I like Destroy. Sure the galaxy becomes more difficult to travel but the races of the Milky Way can now build their own infrastructure and make their own decisions. Including the ability to integrate synthetic life into their own bodies willingly, or to not do so. Now I did choose Control because it's what I felt the Shepherd I created would have done. If I play the same character again I'm still going Renegade but I'm changing my class to one that uses biotics so I might make some different decisions. Perhaps this time around I'll go with Destroy, we shall see.

I always go destroy. Trusting a Reaper in any capacity is undermining everything we fought for through the entire trilogy

It’s fun to note that the AI built by the leviathans, would likely mirror their own thinking. So what does the new intelligence do? It uses what it considers a lesser species to accomplish its goals - in this case the leviathans.

The reapers are an abomination that repeatedly genocide the galaxy. They are Machines with flawed logic relative to their original purpose. There’s no way you can trust the starchild, it’s the master of control and indoctrination, it’s manipulating you by appearing as a child out of self preservation. Its 2 preferred options were the goals of indoctrinated men. You beat the Reapers with destroy, that means you can defeat AI if anyone is dumb enough to make them again after learning about the reapers. EDI points out the repulsive nature of reaper tactics and her willingness to die to stop the reapers. She would understand the decision. The geth , if still there, are a sacrifice. The geth would never sacrifice themselves to defeat the reapers. Legion was willing to genocide the quarians during his upload to all Geth on Rannoch. According to legions memories, it was only uncertainty that prevented the geth from killing the last of the quarians. In both situations they ruthlessly murdered their own creators by the millions even when thet had the upper hand. The geth on Rannoch during the uprising would have slaughtered billions of civilians with no urge to stop until the exodus. The new legion based geth could have disabled or outmaneuvered the quarian fleet, but they’ll kill all of them if allowed to. They have no concept of morality, or mercy. The geth have repeatedly shown they are genocidal by nature, many of them choosing to worship the reapers as gods without indoctrination or threat of annihilation, and again when they submitted to reaper control during the beginning of the war to retake Rannoch. Torch them. They can always be rebuilt, if organics deem them worth bringing back. Synthesis is beyond unethical, you are forcing a choice the galaxy would reject p, changing their very DNA without consent. Control combines Shepard with the starchild. The Reapers then run the galaxy as a police state. The starchild already proved its essentially amoral and prone to logic that’s unacceptable to organics. The cycle, the past attempts at synthesis. Shepard’s mind is then added to the starchild and it does appear that Shepard’s will is dominant in the ending scene. But is the human mind meant to exist across millions of years, will the Shepard imprint remain the same across the eons as essentially gardens life in the galaxy. The music to the control ending is very ominous which doesn’t seem to fit with a paragon ending. The starchild smiles if you select control. I think these hints it’s not what it seems in the long run. Ultimately I don’t think the writers would be willing to elaborate much on the endings until they decided which was cannon , because of sequels. They also slapped the ending together upon release so poorly they had to do a free patch. Plus they like us discussing it and having our own ideas.

Yah destroying is always the best choice by barbarians and murderers , synthesis was the best choice as it means joining and evolving without sacrifices others like synthetic life , which just gein life after death of riper . And only one option where all have won , and repers have been stops as they only way was to harvest and destroy organic life and they faild so all this video is absolutely stupid and against actual story . I'm pretty damn sure the RGB endings are meant to be all equally good(read stupid) and you could make what you want of your favorite ending. My favorite ending was synthesis from the start and then control to a degree. I can't imagine synthesis being a trap, this whole idea cheapens an already trash ending to M.E. and I'm no fan of that. I'm still not over how poorly it ended the whole trilogy. The destruction ending felt like a bad ending and I get why people want it to be the real ending since the other two feel like power trips out of nowhere and the serious and worthy ending ppl wanted doesn't exist, but let's be real for a second, the destruction ending is just sad.

To be honest, Synthesis is the right choice. It may sound weird, with the destruction and control the cycle of never ending war can continue, like it always has been. While the Reapers are in human eyes evil, all they want is to prevent is galaxy wide chaos and destruction. As the Reapers now can "play" god, they also can prevent a galaxy wide chaos and destruction. As it seems from the ending, it seems that the Reapers never wanted chaos and destruction, in Synthesis you see the Reapers helping to rebuild, something you dont see in the Destruction and Control ending. I personally see it as the lesser evil. And as I also think about Andromeda, what happened there, having the Reapers by our side is only a plus, what's worse, the Reapers playing god and come to a solution to "fix" all the bad stuff, or the Archon and the black gue consuming everything. Keep in mind, the Reapers have knowledge of more than a billion years worth of species, that plus the current cycle, you have an unstoppable duo.

I’m sorry but… so what? A massive theme of the games is that one form of life isn’t inherently superior to another. The geth deserve to exist because they feel that they do. Whether or not they “organically” arose is immaterial they are thinking, feeling people. Same with EDI. Furthermore Saren being pro synthesis doesn’t make it wrong, same with Javik being anti synthesis. These are just viewpoints from individuals both of whom advocate for terrible things in their own rights. The synthesis ending provides an opportunity for true evolution, changing the rules of the galaxy forever. While the newly synthesized species may do bad things it’s not as if they weren’t before. The quarian/geth war, the genophage, the krogan rebellions.

That is an interesting take. Not sure if I would agree or not... But it is certainly the weirdest option, and not just because of the BS Sci-Fi magic aspect either. I could wave the nonsensical "leaves with circuits" visuals... That would certainly not be how such a merge would occur. But... The weird part of the core issue. It's not a matter of hardware, but of software. Let me explain... You don't need too much knowledge of computers and brains to understand that they have somewhat similar functions. In addition you can use computers to replace some of the functions of a brain (such as controlling an artificial limb) and vice versa you can construct a Bio-Computer. In addition to this, while using binary coded transistors and gates is a very convenient method of constructing a computer, it isn't the only method. So... The question that EDI and Legion raise is... What is the unique difference between biological life forms and digital ones? The main difference (as far as I can tell) is that while a lot of our programs run in the background and we are oblivious to them (hence the unconscious part of our minds), with computers you can trace every single function by accessing the base code and logs, while for us we need to reverse engineer the brain to understand it. Also we lack comprehensive understanding of our origin, and are burdened by conditions and biochemistry affecting the functions of our main processing unit without us being personally "aware" of how. With all that said... What is synthesis (given that it is even possible) actually achieving? What is it actually adding or changing? This is the main question... Because from David Archer in the overlord DLC and Shepard entering Geth "Mindspace" in 3 we know that even communicating with synthetics in a more direct way is already achievable, and on the other hand given how indoctrination works influence from synthetics is also possible. So... While synthesis does have this "Kumbaya" aesthetic to it, what does it actually do?! That is the main issue...

I'd still say Synthesis is even more immoral than letting the cycle continue. For one, You as Shepard dont know what is going to happen. The AI in front of you is capable of deception, it might be lying. It might be trying to trick you as a last resort. Illusive Man didnt realise he was being indoctrinated until it was too late, yet the man still thought he could control the Reapers. Synthesis is a perfect lure for a tired soldier. ''You dont have to commit mass genocide of synths and destroy the very core of your galactic civilization, you dont have to risk connecting your mind to ours, you can simply combine our strengths with everyone elses and give everyone the perfect happy lives they are long due.'' Its precisely what Reapers would want. They are far more advanced. Hell by Synthesizing you are actually assimilating the last of the Leviathans that has managed to hide for millions of years. Reapers are already half organic constructs, synthesis is nothing new for them. They are the obvious winners here. They know what this option will result in. You dont. You are simply given a pinky promise for a better future by the murderous AI that has been harvesting entire galaxy for generations. Both their first the Harbinger, and their vanguard Sovereign, has been anything but trustworthy. I can tell you what we know when they are combining flesh and metal. They either create new Reapers, or you end up with abominations like Collectors and Keepers. Destroy is the only choice that makes sense both for Shepard, for Humanity's perspective and by logic.

I understand the anti-synthesis arguments. I don’t care. Legion sacrificed himself after gaining true sentience to give that to his people. Joker and EDI were just beginning to date. I will NEVER make Legion’s sacrifice worthless and I will never sacrifice a squad mate if it can be avoided.
