Thank you for this. I’m quite new to watercolor. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a few months now, and have learned a lot from you, particularly how to just relax and jump in and enjoy (and lean into!) what the watercolor is going to do instead of trying to control everything the entire time. You really know how to teach by example. I appreciated how dynamic this painting turned out to be, considering how briefly you were actually painting. Thank you again.

Chris, I just love your videos. My first ever watercolour was with you, about 2 or so years ago. You explain things so clearly and are so encouraging. I do lots of art now, various mediums. But I still find your channel so helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It has made a real difference to me. 😊

Hi Chris, I have been watching an amazing watercolor artist in the UK. Alan Owen watercolour artist. He is 95 years old and still paints incredibly well. He is a little difficult to understand at times but if you watch any of his videos you'll be amazed. I just watched him paint a 2 cottage landscape like it flowed out of.the brush. He makes everything like so easty. The are 100's of videos - he does famous English watercolor artists styles as well. john

After your painting is completely dry can you erase your pencil lines?
@cpetri7669 күн бұрын
Great question Ralph,… some of the time you are able erase some of the pencil lines depending on how much paint has been washed over them. 😎👍🍀

I bet this would be pretty as ink and wash. What do you think?

Awesome painting sir, Just tried my first water color painting total disaster. I was using canson 140 lb cold press paper, Didn't even get it very wet, It wrinkled up really good. Question , do you use one hundred percent cotton paper ? Also I was using castle tube water color paint, Is that a good choice ?
@cpetri76613 күн бұрын
Hi, yes on the 100% cotton, never tried that paint before 👍😎✅

How would you enlarge or reduce your image for your sketch???
@cpetri76616 күн бұрын
Great question! Most printers and software programs have a feature where you can enlarge or reduce the image. Also you can double, triple or quadruple your measurements to enlarge your sketch/drawing! 👍😎✅

Chris I have never make a color chart before. I made a pallet with the same colors that you have. I followed your tutorial and learned a lot... thanks for taking the time to get back to the basics....

Hi Chris; Jane here from Toronto Ontario 🇨🇦 Thanks for this essential lesson in color mixing. I usually get so discouraged with watercolor mixing, never liking what I come up with. Your transition from the colorwheel to the complimentary color swatching was the missing piece for me. I finally get it now and your palette layout makes sense to me; I was totally confused about that before. I will definitely be painting colorwheels and complimentary color swatches this week. Please, please, please, what's happening with the oil painting? As always, thanks again for the effort you put into actually teaching watercolor painting and not just demonstrating it. Cheers 🫠

@@cpetri766 HI Chris; yes I found the channel for oils. It seems like I somehow got unsubscribed. Don't know how or why that's happened but even your watercolor videos don't always make it to me and I've had to resubscribe a couple of times. And it's not just your videos as it's happened to me with other podcasters. Anyway, I really like the white floral oil painting video. I definitely want to paint florals in oils. The two together seem to be a perfect fit in my opinion. Cheers and thanks. 🫠

Now that is a good idea, blurring the detail in your subject a bit. I am easily led astray by the details.

I've struggled since embarking on this wonderful journey painting in watercolor and realized that I needed to go back to basics or, as you put it, extreme beginners. Thanks so much Chris, for your calming, easy going intro into watercolor. Without getting mired in jargon that adds to the confusion, you take us to purely experiential step by step learning that imparts the proper techniques from color mixing, manipulating the paint, loading brushes or unloading, leading us up to nailing wet on wet or wet on dry or damp on wet etc. without getting caught up in specifics. Utilizing your style leads us there by simply doing.
