hi man sorry for my english im from germany. i also rebuilt my afh engine in my polo. if you have problems with finding the right valve cover gasket i can highly recommend you the gasket from autodoc from the brand AJUSA i paid around 30 Euro for the gasket, i couldnt find the gasket anywhere, even my volkswagen part guy didnt had it. great video btw i really enjoy watching it. keep it up

Thank you! I have since gotten an Ajusa gasket for this build! Appreciate the tip!

halløjsa hvordan er det egentlig med godkendelser osv på det? kan bilerne synes efterfølgene? :)
@Zukunftretro4 ай бұрын

In a fun engine like this would you ever consider installing a fumoto drain valve for the oil pan?
@Zukunftretro4 ай бұрын
I don't mind having a normal drain plug, but I have upgraded it off camera to a magnetic one 😊

I'm super interested in your carbon firbre panels in the interior. Are they carbon overlay? Did you do them yourself or are they commercially available?

Taking apart the defrost switch is the biggest pain in the butt out of all the switches!! I de-soldered the copper contact plates from the circuit board and had to physically disassemble the entire switch in order to get to the LED properly at the back. I've taken apart dozens of mk4 switches, and others, and depending on the year, many of them have the surface mount LEDs vs the traditional LEDs. no one but people as crazy as us would ever know the difference though!
@Zukunftretro7 ай бұрын
Ah, yeah all the MK4 switches (normal ones) have had SMD LEDs, so I figured it would be because of the low run of FUNK buttons they would do it differently! The more you know!
@balazs_modelworks7 ай бұрын
So cool! That air tank is crazy, a true genius. Also I didn't know FUNK buttons before your videos, looks like I'm not a true VW head 😂

That Bora is so cool, I love everything about it. While building my MK3 ABT I became really obsessed of everything they do. Again, nice selecion of hard to find and cool accessories, the car is coming along really nicely. Bonus points for hiding the airride so cleverly with the first aid kit, center console, gauge behind the vent BUT exposing that f-in pink airtank haha. Good luck for you and your friend to finish this beauty!

Interesting,I wonder what the condition of the front subframe was?....as it was that component that failed in the UK market.Although my 1975 1400 was all ok when I owned it.
@Zukunftretro9 ай бұрын
The front sub frame was and still is in great condition. When I dropped the whole front cradle, I gave it to my friend for his Lada Sputnik. Same with the rest of the suspension and drivetrain items, it's pretty much only the body that has serious rust issues
