@blackforestvintagefords7872 thanks for watching and subscribing! Sounds like a great starting point. A good intake/carb setup, headers, cam, and recurve the distributor really wakes these 318s up.
@blackforestmusclecars7 күн бұрын
Yes, that’s what’s I heard about too. Headers are already installed, an Edelbrock Performer and a Street Demon 650 Spread Bore are already on the shelf. Are you satisfied with the quality and performance of the Summit cam and lifters after one year?
@HardHeadGarage7 күн бұрын
@blackforestvintagefords7872 i don't own that truck anymore. But it was running great when I sold it. When building it I focused on a few simple oiling tricks and made extra sure the lifter bores were spotless. That along with plenty of assembly lube and I had no issues with the cam or lifters. I was pleased with it in a heavy long bed truck with 3.23 sure grip out back.
@blackforestmusclecars6 күн бұрын
That sounds very good. I have a 3.23 rear gear too and although it has still its original two barrel it already burns rubber on command! So a few little upgrades will do even better I think. Good underrated engines! I will follow your advice and watch every videos about your build and beyond, thanks again!

@HardHeadGarage19 күн бұрын
@stevenbean9706 sounds like a nice build! It's basically a stock 340 grind. I used stock 318 rockers and push rods. I upgraded to Comp Cams 901 springs and did a mild port job on the heads. Mine was a low compression, bottom end torque build, but it really surprised me above 4000 rpms.

Probably will get the sway bar links from Honda. Im seeing a lot of mixed up opinions about moog and movatech. I’m not sure what to order from rock auto I been doing my research for a month. I Really could use some advice man! Which brands should I go with for which parts
@HardHeadGarageАй бұрын
@TheUniqu3 as far as brakes or wheel hubs I would definitely check out Detroit Axel. I've heard mixed reviews about Moog's quality declining. I just put KYB shocks on my Plymouth and I'm satisfied with those. If it's all gonna be made in China anyway, I would check Amazon and get the best price i could.

Nice video! I am curious about one thing. At the beginning of the video you state this works with a distributor with no vacuum advance. As it happens I have an 87 D150 with no ballast and no vacuum advance. How will the timing advance when needed? I assumed I would need to replace the distributor with one with vacuum advance to do the HEI conversion.
@HardHeadGarageАй бұрын
@jonstepro this conversion will work with any electronic mopar distributor with or without vacuum advance. The distributor should still have some mechanical advance built in.

Do the early Mopar "transistorized" "electronic" ignition modules have a history of issues? If I recall when GM first introduced the Delco "HEI" there was some RPM related issue or something . What is the difference/benefit of using the Delco "HEI" module over the Mopar (?Prestolite?) unit? Don't they both just use a Power Transistor to switch the current on and off to the coil instead of mechanical contact points? What about using a Motorcraft Duraspark ignition module instead? it has the additional feature of an electronically controlled timing retard.

@killermachine6859 haven't had much experience with those other options. Over the years Chevy modules have been refined and seems to work good for me. Plus they're available almost anywhere
