I didn't know, until now, that there was a daytime version. I'd also forgotten the shopping part they used to do before they just went to giving away things they won with their wheel spins. I love the old commercials. I sure miss the early 80's!

According to one recollection, it’s a cheapest bonus round prize valued at $991 sometimes in June 1982. A contestant picked the cheapest one twice in the row but failed to solve two bonus puzzles.

One thing I've noticed in these 1979-83 Wheel episodes, most of the men who wear glasses are wearing tinted aviators... and they look SO much more attractive than these stupid square framed cheap Warby Parker glasses that so many people are wearing today.

I’m guessing the Bonus Round was not a permanent addition on Chuck’s last week. It was present on Pat’s first episode but the way he mentioned the round this episode it sounds like it was a periodic event. I’m pretty sure it was a permanent fixture by the time Vanna came in.

@@millenniumman75But in this format you had 15 seconds. When RSTLNE were given and then you added 3 consonants and 1 vowel (unless of course you had the WILD card where you can get a 4th consonant) you only now had 10 seconds to solve the puzzle.

Restlessness, erratic body language and a gaunt appearance are indications of cocaine use, common during the late 70s/early 80s. It's pretty obvious why she was replaced; Vanna was younger, bettter looking and had a natural, flowing grace.

Yow, and I thought the 70s were bad! ...Adam Rich from NBC's "Eight is Enough" a year after its cancellation, and CBS' Knots Landing's Michele Lee.. This is a rare treat! Thank you for posting this. I love the wheel sounding like a rusty bicycle. The current episodes are boring and overrated. NBC needs to cut Today show back to 2 hours (move 3rd & 4th hours to MSNBC) so Daytime Wheel will be back to life opposite Price is Right with that boring & unfun Drew Carey.

Marielen was as cool then as she is now!! "Big Money, Big Money!" She's just as smart too - don't take her on in a board game! Love the dead insects comment (No! I kill them!) Plus, Hi Tommy! Hear the delight as she's picking out her goodies.... And I even enjoyed those commercials I used to watch daily......

3/31/1982 airdate here since the Monday episode posted yesterday was found to be from 3/29/1982 given the Oscar night references to it being "tonight", and April 3rd and 4th are referenced here in the Dinah Shore Nabisco golf commercial, and Easter on 4/11 in 1982 referenced in the Hallmark xcommercial.
