I start watching Home and away when it first air on TV when I was a teenager. I like Home and Away it one of longest running Australian TV drama it deal with real life problems people experience every day in this world.

I carried on watching it for years afterwards until Helen died. That episode was so sad and heartbreaking and Neighbours was just never the same ever again without her. I never continued to watch Neighbours after that

It was actually Elaine Smith herself who was adamant that Daphne should die because- in her own words- it 'brought her character full circle'.

@@stephenmcconnell1000 well personaly i would have liked the character to be recasted i think she was an important character - we have seen before characters recasted like Lucy for example

@@SimsMoyal I doubt you would have still liked her had she been recast. What Elaine Smith brought to the role couldn't be replicated in the same way by a different actress. It's at that point where you realise it would be better to start with a new character. Recasts only really work with child actors who are growing older anyway and the recast can be slotted in as such. If Elaine Smith wanted to be killed off and the producers felt it was appropriate you should trust that they know best. It's not as if she was axed and wanted the door left open, she chose the finality of it. A different actress might have ruined what she had created the character to be.

Omg matilda's speach made me cry so much it was so beautiful and it also made me think of my nan who died last year. I still have tears running down my cheeks now while i'm typing this comment. She was so brave and strong saying what she did right up until the end when she said that she will always be one of her sweethearts RIP BETH
