I’m out of date, I reckon. Seems like I was taught if you gotta cheat, it ain’t winning. All that registration finagling by Abbott and Paxton and intimidating Latino voters by raiding their homes is proof these “people” will cheat in any way so they can call it a “win.” Happening here in Utah as well, but less bragging about it because their “church” would find it immodest.

I've had one of these things for years and whilst it is not the world's beefiest or most accurate device, it serves a purpose. Word of advice though, when you have the thing really clean, give the chrome rails (vertical and horizontal) a good going over with 'Autosol' or other good quality chrome cleaner and never put oil on them; it works as a 'dust magnet' and makes things worse in the long run. Once the chrome is sparkling just use a spray wax furniture polish between the plastic sliders and the metal work. It will glide well and has the added benefit of being 'anti-static' in most cases. I have always found this the best way to lubricate things like this since the days of struggling to erect and collapse baby push chairs. No mess, no greasy stains and a happy wife. 😅 Not familiar with brand names in USA but all decent quality stuff seems to work well this side of the pond and is very easy to keep on top of the issue.

You gotta enough Ted hair there to build a whole new dog. My Aussie Shepherd has been gone 3 years and to this day I find little dabs of his hair in odd places. As for vacuums, none of them can hold a candle to my mom’s 1960’s pig-on-a-rope style canister vacuum. The marketing slogan was Nothing Sucks Like an Electrolux. Wish I had it.

From the ex-Texan-None-of-My-Business-Department, I thought I’d throw in my vision difficulties since we are similar in age. Mine started when I was 55 with macular degeneration. Treated successfully. Over the next 6 years I twice experienced surgery for detached retinas followed by two cataract surgeries. Stable now for 5 years and see about as good as I ever did with good lenses. Don’t know your situation, but as one codger to another, they can do amazing things now. Keep looking. No pun intended.

In 2017 doctors told me that I have 1 to 2 years at the most. In 2019 I was in the hospital on dialisis when the doctors told me to consider going into hospice. I made it out but my heart is no longer strong enough to have any sugeries. They did some kind of nerve block on my entire arm to put a fistula in for my dialisis because they could'nt put me under. My heart doctors did an ablasion on my heart now it is totally reliant on my pacemaker to pump. I am pretty sure I have a catarac in my left eye and bright lights effect me a lot. All in all though, I am sooo happy to be here writing to a friend on this earth. Thanks for asking my friend, James
@gracelandoneАй бұрын
@@CountryFolksLiving James, I had thought you I and might one day play poker and we would bet using our health problems as stakes. I thought I’d ante with my eye problems and raise you with my quad cardio bypass at age 39. But now that I see you would raise with pacemaker, dialysis and possible hospice, I have to fold. It’s like my Great Grandpa (I was lucky enough to know, born in the late 1880’s) told me when I was a boy. “Son, gettin’ old is not for cowards. But it’s better than not gettin’ old.” Not an exact quote but I was about 10 at the time. Turns out he was right. I’m kinda getting an idea why you video and edit (pretty well, I would say) many ordinary tasks that ordinary people have to deal with. And be glad to be there to do them. I suppose that’s why I have enjoyed them, no many how many Ryobi or Slime products are involved. Of course, then there is the interest of you tossing in music you like and your collection of band shirts. I have much the same feeling of being grateful to cook supper and feed neighborhood cats every day. I’m just not skilled in creating content. So thank you. And thank you for sharing your challenges. John

I like that you leave in the false starts while recalling how the looping/pulling works. But I’m with you, nylon rope isn’t the best. I much prefer this type of tying to ratchet straps any day. If I use them I find myself tying a bunch of half hitches at the end because I don’t trust them. Just old-fashioned I guess. But I ain’t never had a canoe or a deer or a cooler come off the top of the car if attached with good old knots.

I wish I had this rig. Mine is a crappy plastic box that’s only suitable for the crudest of cuts. But my Hitachi mitre saw 30 years old, made of metal, cuts great. But who wants to lug 25 lbs and 100 feet of cord every time you need an angle cut on a 2x4?
@fungames24Ай бұрын
I have it and I use it to cut small glass beads. It's a struggle. You will be lugging 25lbs if you try anything bigger. It's a small saw and has little travel for the blade.

I got the belt covers on my troybilt 42inch lawnmower but my belt still comes off any suggestions what might be causing it to come off the belt is brand new
@CountryFolksLiving2 ай бұрын
If it's got everything that it needs to hold it on then the next thing I would check is the belt itself. Belts from auto parts stors are usually thinner and will come off easier and make sure you have the right size. One thing that may work is when you have it engaged and are about to disengage, move the handle back slowly and it will usually hold onto the belt. If you disengage it fast it tends to sling it off. Good luck my friend

Thanks! I picked one if these up at a garage sale; works great but they all eventually need to be cleaned & lubed. I just found the owners manual online, which says the belt pulleys don't need to be lubricated for life - but did they envision it being in service 50 years later...? I hope to use mine for another 20 years, and then have someone else feel lucky to find it in the estate sale that will inevitably be held at my home!
