Great video!! I’ve owned my 86.5 928 for 27 years. It’s the best and most reliable car I’ve ever owned and I’ve also owned a 911! Great car but nothing in comparison to the 928!

They stopped racing them in 1980 because the LX model ended in 1978 and the UC model after it had no V8 option. Not sure on why it was allowed to race in 1979

The 928 was and remains a very cool car. It deserved better. And the original looks far better than the upcoming reboot version. The fact Porsche actually sold out to build SUV/crossovers is enough to make you lose your lunch.

Wow, so much misinformation in one short video. Just some examples, the 924 was not a failure, it was a sales success that saved porsche at the time. It also was not cheap, compared to it's class rivals it was expensive. You quote 90hp as it's output, that was the USA market model, europe got 125hp. Then you quote the 1982 928S as 300hp that was for euro models, the USA only got 240hp. The USA 85 and 86 S, then the S4 had an extensively redesigned engine with 32 valves. The Nardone is a French resto rod version that to my eyes looks horrible.

Thank you for your feedback, in regards to the 924 sales, I'd probably say I was swayed to label it as a poor selling model due to its mediocre performance specs, as well as it being a more entry-level car in the Porsche lineup. Speaking of specs, the US and Euro models being different was something I didn't realise when making the video, looking back on it, I don't know why I didn't just go on the Porsche website where it has the Euro specs and just stick with those. The 928 S and S4 engines was straight up my error, I think I got it confused for being the same on engine based on both having a 5.0 litre displacement. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention, and have a good day :)

how is it vs Beam?
@Dale_official
@Dale_official 7 ай бұрын
TLDR: The games are hard to compare because they're both pretty different from one another. Okay so, Beamng and Assetto Corsa, whilst both revolving around cars, do really different things. Beamng is more a physics simulator that's being molded into a sort of racing game whilst Assetto is a considerably more focused racing simulator. Graphics wise, I'd say Assetto looks considerably better from stock and with things like CSP and Sol whereas Beamng you have to mess about with the world editor and more settings and such. Performance wise, I think Assetto Corsa runs better and I would say more consistently, to get the best out of Beamng you have to have a pretty decent computer to run the whole thing. Physics wise, Beamng has considerably better simulation for everything but driving dynamics, which Assetto Corsa is pretty damn good at. Beamng stock is more free than Assetto Corsa, but overall both present a large variety of opportunities for personalized experiences and tomfoolery to commence. Community wise Assetto has more players which gives it a lot more populated servers and a very active modding community, this also applies to Beamng. As for updates, Beamng is still actively receiving new stuff and other bug fixes and updates, with more on the way whereas Assetto is dead with the only developments on ACC and Assetto Corsa 2/Evo. Hope that helps, if you got anymore questions let me know!

@@Dale_official I have them both now, and have to say Beam has the edge. Well Assetto is a pretty old game now and BeamNG is constantly being updated.

That story is not correct. In the 1980s there were no purists, people at that time did not have in mind to collect cars, they only bought cars to use, When the Porsche 928 was produced, there was an oil crisis in the whole world, where all V8 cars of all brands had a collapse in sales. And people opted for more compact, less horsepower cars. Fuel prices continued to rise. And the prices of the components of their parts were increasing, the cost of living was very low, you can read the story, it's on Wiki search for the 1980 oil crisis. This is precisely what is happening today, when everything continues to increase in price. Think about this: What would you do if everything went up in price today? The reality is that you'd be looking for much cheaper stuff. That is a fact.

The engineer who manufactured this vehicle is considered one of the best in the world, the car is called a masterpiece. The 928 was the first to bring all the new equipment and paved the way for new inventions. Its futuristic style that will never go out of style. The story is unique, it is an award-winning car, also the only sports car to win the prestigious award. It has the world speed record, not only as a production car, but in the 24 hours of the Nardo ring in Italy for more than 10 years. Also this car crossed the entire world proving to be a true grand tourer

4:20 - Sorry, no. The S4 had a 5-litre 32-valve motor, compared to the S which was 4.7 litres with 16 valves. How could you get such a basic fact wrong? You did not mention many of the world firsts the 928 had. Nor its difficult and expensive development. Sad.

@Dale_official 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, by the end of its lifespan in 1986 the S featured a 5.0 Litre V8 (not sure if its a 16 or 32 valve but I'd imagine it would be the latter). You can find this on the Porsche Website here: www.porsche.com/australia/accessoriesandservice/classic/models/928/928/ If you scroll down to the 928 S section you can find it there. In regards to the 928's innovations, I did try to emphasize the technological advancements it achieved but looking back I probably could have further discussed its development in the video. Thank you and have a good day :)

I love the video, Though calling the 924 a failure wasn´t quite right, it sold around 150k units and saved porsche from bankruptcy in the oil crisis, as well as being the reason that Porsche believed that transaxles are the future. Also i do believe the 928 and and 924 were developed alongside. There was a time all the engineers at porsche drove a 928 and all of marketing drove a 911.

928 has been on the cusp of becoming the new hype classic for the last 30 years... So yeah... The issue with the car at launch was its stratospheric price. The equivalent today is not quite the latest Bugatti, but it's up there; yes the 928 was that obscenely expensive, at least in Australia. The issue with the 928 today is that like any car designed with dynamics intented to keep its occupants alive, it is boring. The front engine and rear transaxle weight distribution was the way to get a stable high speed GT in the days before digital chassis controls. This worked great, especially with the then new passive rear wheel steering/toe-control first introduced on the 928.

I own a blue 82 with phone dials and a silver 89s4 with 3 pcs staggered 18" wheels. The latter gets all the compliments as it still looks like a modern car. Issues vary by generation, but Porsche never got the chance to refine the 928 over the long run like the 911. But using 70's and 80's tech is the biggest issue. The electrics can be a pain because they used so many relays. The engine is very reliable but crammed into the design so shops hate working on them.. Vacuum leaks and cooling issues with the fans can crop up. Otherwise it's built like a tank ( It's crazy heavy ) If buying one, make sure the paint and Interior isn't trashed, Gremlins can be sorted out on 928 forums.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime!!!!

I live in New Zealand, and during the mid to late 1970's, I worked as a car groomer for a company specializing in the grooming of New and Used cars, a lot of which were for dealers. Because of this, I was lucky enough to collect from Tappenden Motors in Takapuna Auckland, a road going Torana "A9X"? or at least what the A9X was based on, in the form of a Torana SS Coup, in Orange and Black, and Powered by the 308 V8, with a 3 Stage Auto Box, likely a Tri Matic, behind it? I think I have seen another two or three of these "A9X" Coupes here in New Zealand in the close to 40 years since I was lucky enough to drive the one I did, as they are incredibly rare here?

Since I can't reach out to you privately, I'll put a comment here for your edification. Peter Brock was not racing care number "five". He was racing "Oh Five" or "Zero Five" but more accurately, represented the decimal number 0.05 (zero point zero five). It is petty to bring it up, but an important detail. Brocky's support of the legal blood alcohol limit reduction from 0.08 to 0.05 was probably to single biggest factor of the success of the propaganda campaign by various state governments. Brocky was seen as a "Man's man" and if he was behind reducing this limit for "safety", then men all over Australia begrudgingly fell into line generally speaking. Remember, this was a time when it was a badge of honour to make it home with "a few under the belt". So when referring to Brocky's car, remember it is "Oh Five" or "Zero Five". Overall, you could tidy up your imaging a bit and you allowed a couple of inaccuracies to creep in young fulla. However, overall it is not a bad little presentation. Length of the video is good but remember you can keep someone's attention for 30mins if you have a good style. So don't allow yourself to feel rushed. Well Done.
