Its not YA, and deals with some mature issues in Greek mythology such as SA, but that said, I would say 15 and over would be fine depending on maturity levels.

It focuses on the relation ship between Goddess Demeter and her Daughter Persephone. it is for adults, and deals with SA, but is appropriate for mature 15 and up I'd say. Nothing graphic.

This is a different version that looks at how Persephone came to be in the underworld. It also focuses on Demeter, Persphone's mother and explores why she was so against Persephone and Hades. It will definitely give you a new perspective.

I don’t like it when people say this!! Reason being: 1: This can make people feel bad about having beef with their own family 2: Everyone who has trauma doesn’t have the same trauma- Sometimes it’s physical, emotional, mental, sexual, etc, but there are different intensities! Someone can have a bad family and they don’t have to be trying to kill them every second! Plus, this is also a book, and reality is different. Sorry for the rant! I just don’t like when people say these things in such a dismissive way😅

To be fair, Hera’s also a victim She’s the goddess of marriage and got seduced by Zeus, but he remained unfaithful and kinda unloving. He probably barely shows affection with her and slept more with other women than he ever had with Hera (since they have, like, only 2-3 kids). He also punished Hera once by tying anvils around her legs and hanging her with a rope high in the sky (she did try overthrowing him, but in my opinion she was in the right for this one.) It doesn’t excuse any of her actions, of course. She’s still despicable and evil to her husband’s lovers and their kids even if many of Zeus’s lovers didn’t consent.

Personally i think that writing books that change mythology doesnt really make sense, i think that even if there are injustices and some things that are straight up infuriating they should be kept that way and we shouldnt change them because we are so different from those that wrote them originally.

The stories aren't being changes per se it's more an understanding of what might have happened if looked upon from another's eye of perseption.

Its not simply about rewriting them from a different perspective, it is about making these stories more accessible. How man young women what to read Greek mythology through the lens of Homer's The Odyssey? It is a tough book for anyone to read. Modern retellings make them more relatable and engaging for new readers. IMO

As it should be! When I worked with abuse mothers who were reluctant to leave the abuser or press charges. I was ask then “ if a man did this to ur daughter would you tell her to stay with him? Or Ur son is learning that “ that is the way women should be treated “ Point: I woman will do things for their children that they would not do for them selves!
