@@Sage_Zero0Some local hospitals may have a work-study type of thing where you can work as one while working towards certification. Again this ultimately depends on the hospital or out patient offices near you. Give them a call and ask around for more info. [If I am wrong, please correct me so that I have the right information too.]

No it is not lol. You have to take the course and it around 1200 to 1800. You have to take the course in order to be eligible for the state board.

That person is probably doing some bootleg stuff because nothing is free. If you don't pass the exam you would have to pay for it. My hospital pays 100% for schooling tuition, and the sterile processing technician UofH college class is for a year for 2k. Instead of doing it through trade school for 4 months, I'll do the college one.
