Meh another bloody propellor plane. Ireland can now easily afford some Saab Gripen's. Without jets, Ireland doesn't have a proper air force, all they can drop on Russian coastal incursions is potatoes or turf. Spend the money and invest in fighter jets to deal with non-state actors instead of phone the RAF. It's a national shame that Ireland has no defensive fighter jets, now the 5th wealthiest nation on earth and all Ireland has is propellor AC for fish monitoring, what about terrorism targeting civilians or drugs interdiction? The Irish Air Corps 50 years ago had fighter jets, then an era of endemic stick insect Cessna's its a joke, spend the goddam money on Gripen's or similar. USAF had 000s of serviceable F16s in storage, buy some. Neutral countries like Sweden and Switzerland have decent air forces.

Worked with both Irish Airforce casa,s when they used Luton for training or medivac flights . Air crew were excellent to work with . Glad the casa,s are is still in the IAC

The planes are called CN-235 and C-295. The N referred to Nurtanio, an Indonesian aircraft builder who collaborated on the design of the CN-235... but who has nothing to do with the design of the C-295.

The Dassault Falcon is a very useful fast long range aircraft. The ideal choice for regular VIP travel. The RAAF VIP fleet had four of them.

A larger member of the Falcon family (8X for example) would have been a better purchase, but purse strings are tight!

@@TDPAviationAndGaming I once got to travel in an RAAF Falcon VIP aircraft. We flew from Darwin to Canberra in around 4 hours at very high altitude. The most spectacular part was the takeoff. With air force pilots who went full throttle from the start of the runway we went up and passed through about 20,000 feet in a minute or less. We weren't paying for the av gas or sticking to regular air routes. The view of Darwin from there was amazing. Air force pilots are more fun 😁.

Irish Air Corps have received 2 of these maritime patrol aircraft. A third one due for delivery 2026 is a utility / transport version of the CASA 295. They replace the CASA 235's in service since 1993

The Irish health service makes use of British specialist hospitals as paying to use them is cheaper than building them for Ireland’s smaller population. This brand new aircraft was visiting in order to train crews who will be flying these medical flights on the new aircraft.

In the same way the Irish Intel & Security agencies brown nose MI5 the Air Corps are now brown nosing the RAF.

The Irish Air Corps visit RAF Northolt regularly to take Irish patients to and from specialist London hospitals. Given the upgrade from the CASA 235s to the 295s, they have been regularly practicing routes they commonly fly including this one. The video linked in the end screen features the Irish Coastguard doing the same thing (aeromedical transport to London).

And I guess I'm still butt hurt over it. For the record I have never been a career criminal or a terrorist or anything like that., So why the MI5 interest?
