Yeah Jason. Nice work here. You captured something. I dug it. But what was it? Your thoughts on the deep ecological/ spiritual aspects of the Mountains and of the care, compassion and camaraderie they elicit in us when we hang with them - that shit was awesome. Keep it coming. You ever read Dolores LaChapelle’s DEEP POWDER SNOW? I could see you winding some of her thoughts into a piece like this. Just a thought. Keep up the storytelling. You’re good at it. Thanks again for putting this together and for sharing.

Has there been any foam compaction after a year's worth of use?
@Jason-Eson
@Jason-Eson 10 ай бұрын
I think I ended up using that foam to insulate a shed. It’ll compact where the cross bars stick out past the plywood, but that seems to help snug it up. Ultimately it holds the weight of the camper no problem.

What would you say to hardshell kayakers considering grinding the straight ocean route from Dry Bay to Yakutat? Thought it might be an interesting and cost effective addition to our Tat trip.
@Jason-Eson
@Jason-Eson Жыл бұрын
You’d have to get out past the surf…it’s 60 something miles to yakatat bay. I wouldn’t want to do it in my creek boat, but depending on your comfort level and equipment anything is possible. Id personally call around to some of the guiding or expo companies and see if you could drop your gear for them to pick up and then just walk out. Probably cheaper than flying your own person out. Or if you want to perfect experience. Fly in fat bikes and fly out kayaks, then roll into town in style.

Just moved here, and stumbled upon your video hoping to see if my knees can handle it. I’m going to try! Your brace looks like what I need, with the hinged flexion and all, did you purchase it “over the counter” or did it have to come from a doc? I’m excited to watch more pf your videos. (And I might be weird, but I like seeing the walk down also.)😊

Totally with you on the indoor cat to outdoor cat transition. I've lost about 35 pounds and I have about 25 to go, and that last 25 is being super freaking stubborn, but that's 25 pounds of unnecessary stress on my joints and back while I'm snowboarding that can lead to injuries that I don't need, so it's gotta go!

@@Jason-Eson Mainly diet. Cut out soda, juice, anything that was a processed carbohydrate (sugar). Also tried to cut out processed foods, and all fast foods. I found it easiest to go whole food, plant based since it required me to really think about food differently and think about what I ate rather than just grab what I was used to. Mountain Biking and back country also helped :P

Are there different kinds of snowfall/snowpack? Does it sound or react different? I'd bet there are some cool sciency style tidbits that you could share with us. What kind of sun protection do you need while out there? looks like the risk of sunburn would be great with all the reflection off the snow.

Great Questions!.....So much snow science, but as soon I talk about it my analytics take a dive! That snow was isothermal refreeze crust. East to travel on, but not great to ski on...until around 3 pm, then it'll all turn to mush and you sink up to your ears. Sun screen...I try to stay covered up and just use the highest spf I can find. Kinda like Florida in Alaska.
