What did you do with the 2 smaller lines running to the reservoir? Im trying to replace them
@rotboyzgarageАй бұрын
@themoyouknoww personally I capped them at my reservoir and cut all those lines out. For me it's a drift car so didn't want anything but just the power steering setup
@themoyouknowwАй бұрын
@@rotboyzgarage thanks. How did you removed the crimped connectors at the bottom of those lines? Just pried them off?
@rotboyzgarageАй бұрын
@themoyouknoww typically with the one use clamps I will either cut them with dikes across the bulge (so like cutting it in half) and that will free them up and you can pull them apart. You can buy the one use clamp kits and plires to apply new ones, I use them on a number if things

Sorry meant to ask, at minute 1:54, your screw diver is resting on what looks like a radiator mesh. I have the 1991 dump and don't have that. What is it? TIA
@robertlord79112 ай бұрын
Thanks on this. I'm about to swap out the cap/wires/rotor/plugs (have done timing belt. 1991 DD51B (dump). Then to do the timing. Appreciate the video.

when I was young, I used to JB weld on everything , pex plumbing water leaks , hole in motorcycle tire, broke water bong, ... etc... pinhole on motorcycle gas tank 😂😂😂 I have evolved past JB Weld, but I still keep it on hand

So weird... I have ASC in my 95 530i but my power steering reservoir looks nothing like yours, mine's like half the size with two lines. This job looks so painful though. I haven't checked out underneath to see if I have the ASC line but it is strange - maybe someone before me already simplified the system similar to you. Great video, but would appreciate the sound to be mixed better (music's loud, your commentary is quiet)
@rotboyzgarage6 ай бұрын
Yea I was very confused by it all since most of what I found online was the standard 2 line reservoir stuff. Still a long job for some PS lines but it's done now 😅

Bad idea you need a new oil pan
@rotboyzgarage8 ай бұрын
A new oil pan is the proper fix. This is a temporary fix to help someone get out of a bind. Ive broken oil pans in the woods before on rocks and this will let you get out of the woods and keep driving until you can get a new pan. Also this car was sitting for 20 years with a hole in the oil pan so no reason to buy an oil pan for something if you dont know if the motor is healthy or not

Don’t yall think it would work better if he got a peice of steal to go across the hole with JB weld on each side leaving a rectangle steel piece |==| ⭕️ pulling it down so it can stick to the metal leaving two smaller holes on each side then doing it his way? Idk I feel like it would cap it in a way from each side rather then just jamming on one side

I’m a welder and I still use jb weld from time to time. its perfect to use on thin corroded metal
@nate3231 Жыл бұрын
Not recommended but if you’re in a pinch and need to do something like this go get some sheet metal aluminum and some regular full strength jb weld and cut out a small circle with some shears and put a ring on the circle jb weld that to the oil pan then put another bead going around the circle on the outside and that will be much better than doing it this way
