Now Trump is quoting Hitler and hanging with asses saying we should have fought for the Nazis.

When this movie was released the war was still on, and it was unknown what would happen in the future and who might be victorious.

Man is not mere flesh. There is a spirit in humans that is not always in evidence, but times arise when it can't and won't be denied.

I love how the director used rain as a metaphor as being heartbroken after Rick read Ilsa’s letter.

The director of Casablanca, Michael Curtiz, used Die Wacht am Rhein for the Germans to sing instead of the national anthem of the Third Reich which was copyrighted in some countries. Curtiz had no intentions of playing the Nazis anthem so that no royalties could go to the German government.

And yet as is the way of humans. Many of the people that forged the first liberation of the peasants from French Royalty deteriorated into a mob that killed innocent poor people. I respect the Song of French independence It is however a sorrowful song of innocents that were murdered. There are many today who should reflect on this

I'm still hoping Le Marseillaise is played on the grand organ in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris when, or soon after, it reopens later this year (toward the end of 2024).

Interesting... Hitler always had rallies, was racist, bigoted, and massagnistic. Praised other dictators and saw them as strong men. Called immigrants poisoning the blood of his nation and used his country's Christian nationalism as a means of hatred, violence, and intimidation to perpetrate division and got rid of trade unions. Not to mention caused an insurrection and didn't pay taxes. Funny... that description sounds very much like a former US president whose name you invoke. I can go on with several other examples, but I think the point is made!
