Did you use regular henna (red) or did you use a brown henna? Also, I've heard of people leaving henna in up to 4 hours or even overnight.. Perhaps if you only put henna on your new growth and leave it on longer, your roots will be the same color as the rest of your hair and the grey will take on the henna color better.

Hey, Great video! I just wanted to add that if you keep dying your hair, I am sure it is due to the gray and wanting change; however, it changes the hair texture slightly, which causes loc slip and thinning locs and sometimes thinning at the scalp. I am in the process of combing out 2 1/2 year old weakened traditional locs that have thinned out over time due to depositing black hair dye that I thought was safer than lifting; well, it's not. I have had Sisterlock 2x, and I ruined both sets due to my obsession with hair dying. Now I am getting braid locs and I have finally decided to embrace my Evil DeVille look lol lol. I just can't shell out any more loot on restarts and I really want healthy locs as much as possible without seeing scalp and thinning loc roots. You dyed your hair on week 2 of your loc journey and you have been on a nonstop roller coaster with the dye ( can cause loc dryness, brittleness, and a dull hair appearance too). I promise if you keep it up your hairline will continue to recede. Twisting or interlocking on created weak locs due to dying will break off or thin hair every time. I am 48 years, and I am well aware of my hormonal changes in aging hair processes, and dealing with rudely gray hair (which is actually super fragile even tho they feel strong), and how this affects locs. Been there done that and simply destroyed my hair health and integrity over and over again because I wasn't ready for Evil Deville before I finally came to grips. Once the hair has been settled and your locs are well established you can perhaps dye the ends but stay off the roots. I say lay off the dying; let it go for now Sis. Btw, bleaching, lifting to deposit, and Oops hair dye removal never fully washes out of locks and overtime continues to eat at them, sort of like an untreated cavity; which causes the locs to pop over time. Good luck on your loc journey!

Thank you for the advice. But i don't dye my hair often. I can't even remember the last time i put a permanent dye in my hair. The blue i used is more of a rinse which comes out over time. Actually some of my color has come back and the greys too. Even after i cooked my hair when i first did my locs was a semi and my hair thrived because it was not constant. I know what dye does to the hair but there are other causes why i was having issues with my locs and i can tell you it wasn't the dye lol. I will be posting maybe this weekend so you can see the babies lol until then thank you for watching and thank you for the advice ❤

You've got nice length! My retwist doesn't last longer than 2 weeks so I switched to interlocking. That doesn't last longer than 2 weeks either and takes longer so I'm back to retwisting and I palm roll. I just decided to live with the frizz. It's just the way my hair is.

Hi Johnna :-). Have you considered a warmer color than your previous hair color? Do you prefer to go lighter in the warmer months and a warm darker tone in the colder months? I understand being unhappy with having three different hair colors in your hair. Thank you for updating us. Stay safe:-).
@Hypnotiq0014 жыл бұрын
Its not too much the color at the ends but the rest of my hair is a dark dingy brown and it doesn't look good with the grey. I really dont want go lighter because that means even more chemicals and thats what im trying to avoid lol
@ExquisiteKinkyCoils4 жыл бұрын
@@Hypnotiq001 ok, I understand. Have you considered plant-based dyes instead?

You are doing a fantastic job. Your hair is getting long and I admire your determination. I have traditional locs and I have a terrible time keeping a retwist longer than 2 weeks. Sometimes after a week it is coming out. The last time I tried Taliah Waajid Tight Hold...but it didn’t hold tight for me. Just water is not enough and just oil doesn’t hold. I have interlocked but I have a few double headed dragons which are difficult to interlock. I’m thinking I’ll interlock the singles and retwist the doubles. We’ll see how that works.
@Hypnotiq0014 жыл бұрын
Its good to know i wad not the only one. I thought it was because my locs were small. I stopped using tight hold a long time ago because of flakes. I started using the olive oil gel then cantu made a gel then of course i used that. As for interlocking the doubles get some thread used for sew ins and you can wrap it down the loc or on the tip securely but temporarily. I do that for one of my clients. Good luck.
@paulagudger23564 жыл бұрын
@@Hypnotiq001 Thanks - I'm going to try the thread and the Cantu. I have more time now. I'm not going in public til Corona is no longer a threat.
