I may add that depending on the location where you get rainbow trout or coastal cutthroat trout (for the cutties you need them to be coastal or they will die) you can keep them in salt water if you have a aquarium of the north pacif ocean, rainbows will thrive

How do you attach a heater to this tank?
@unorthodoxaquatics3 ай бұрын
Just hang one in the back and secure the cord up top with a clip,or secure it to a smooth rock or piece of decor with the suction cup, sometimes I weigh my heaters down with fishing weights bc the suction cups suck, no pun intended 😁 some of my nanos I use a heat pad or mug warmer underneath because the heater takes up space
@unorthodoxaquatics3 ай бұрын
All jokes aside I would not recommend this if you are buying it full price. I love the bowl but it is hard to clean without scratching it and the skimmer did not last very long😢😢

but the waste they produce will contribute in development of algae which will feed the clams in turn.

how did they do long term? do you add plankton as supplemental food?
@unorthodoxaquatics5 ай бұрын
They dug down in my featured video "clams digging," and that was the last I saw of them lol!! 🤷🏻♀️ It was a learning experience. No, I didn't supplement food because they shared the tank with blue tilapia, so the water was far from pristine.

I've kept a series of Pumpkinseeds in my 90 gal out in my shop. I catch them in my small creek in NW WA state. They share the tank with other Pumpkins and an occasional cuttthroat trout, as well as a crayfish. I've found the small ones will eat dried bloodworms from the pet store and the adults like the Hikari brand top feeding predator pellets, though they will also happily eat goldfish. I keep my tank just above 60 F so I can have some algae eating snails to help with tank cleaning. Everything in the tank except the snails came from my creek; rocks logs, etc. I really enjoy having a mini version of my creek indoors and I like being able to show friends a slice of what lives in my creek.

Your chunks of brick aren’t providing the smooth eddy currents trout need to hang out behind. They need laminar flow, not a washing machine. Also, you don’t have enough oxygen. They are tiny now, but they’ll be “mouthing” once they double in size.
