This game has some "Against the Storm and DotAGE" vibes to it with the "Impatience" bar at the top that acts like the "Impending Doom" number of days until the mission is over. The constant swamp spawns kind of reminds me of blood flowers (or fishmen ritual totems) and glade event threats that need to be handled.

Reminds me of an actual Lego game "Lego Loco" where you could also build railroads, but also regular roads and pedestrian paths. And buildings would generate Lego people that would walk around the paths and who would even board the trains at train stations. And some buildings would generate cars that would drive around the roads. Though you couldn't build terrain, but you could place scenery items.

This game seems like wants to be Magicraft and Spell Disc combined, but it has such bad reviews. I'm not gonna pay $10 for that

its not terribly bad of game. rather fun building the wand spells effects. though i'm not sure about the replay value after beating the boss once or twice. I suppose you can try to up the difficulty. but yea- i'd wait for a discount or something since $9.99 is the full price.

Hey RonEmpire, been really enjoying the recent Against the Storm videos but I had a few questions for ya. I noticed right at the beginning of the settlement you built two woodcutters camps and immediately filled them with foxes, but you didn't click the slots to put foxes in, they just sorta aappeared. I assume there's a keyboard shortcut for that? On a related note, what is the keyboard shortcut for highlighting non-glade trees? Finally, and this is something I've been wondering for a while now, I notice at the beginning of your settlements you tend to build a rain collector and pipe seemingly every building, and you increase the rainwater flow twice on the production side. I was wondering if you could share some insight into this line of play, as it seems very considered.

Have you watched my new player walk through video episode 1? It gives you lots of tips for new players on what to do for shortcuts. But short answer: shift click on species auto fill that species. shift clip right click removes all. Water Pipping is to help increase chance of getting extra goods which makes things efficient. the key to select non-glade trees is CTRL. (its written on the rollover over that button).

@@daveylacy Certain titles are considered "she" instead of "it", he was saying that countries, ships and the moon are all considered female/ uses a she pronoun.

Not exactly "Stardew Valley" type of farming sim games to describe it. Typically "Cozy" games are for those life sims sandbox games. But that's what the developers are describing it. "Islands & Trains is a relaxing cozy sandbox builder game. Build your own colorful little worlds, however you like."

Hi, first time watching one of your videoes. Tough challenge but well done! Not sure if you're looking for it, but some feedback: Game sounds, especially the music, is a bit loud compared to your voice (for my taste) Seems a bit pointless going into a challenge mission where the theme is a mismanaged town, then you complain for five minutes about the mismanaged town 😄 I'd prefer you just pause the recording for a few minutes, get an overview of the situation then bring us in by explaining what's going on, your analysis and plan.

Yea. I need to tweak the music. it might have been jacked up from a previous stream session that had voice over and i forgot turn it down. this was a VOD from a live stream so there is no "pause" recording.

Is there a way you know of to get lots of blueprints? If so, I think the way to get the "Feeling Extremely Lucky" hidden deed would be to get a super strong run collecting all the blueprints another way, so that your expeditions have a smaller pool to choose from. If you're able to break the game hard enough to unlock every blueprint you could guarantee it since Rainpunk and Homestead aren't in the normal blueprint pool. I imagine you've thought of that and there's just not a way to break the game that hard, but wanted to point it out just in case you can think of a way

There are guides in the steam forum for this. 1st there is a cornerstone that the queen's impatience will not increase so the run can go forever. 2nd there are cornerstones that traders come faster so you can buy a lot of blueprints from the trader. 3rd there is a cornerstone that you get a blueprint for 12 villagers leaving. Hopefully you get it in a long run from the (right) trader. 4th cornerstones to get more people. 5th micromanagement to get blueprints that are not offered because you don't have the race that can use it. (with blanko blueprints). Now you only need a very long run lasting 50 to 100 years. Use the (last) expeditions that bring blueprints late. Could be a little bit boring to see it in a stream.

If you have chests within a 16 block radius from a workbench it'll pull from the chests if im not mistaken.
