Just got back from there yeah go there of you don't mind super long lines for everything and an over crowded beach and over crowded water, I was literally kicked in the face a couple times by other people snorkelling by and didn't pay attention. Really not a fun place to go if you are looking to be with nature more of a people watching spot now

As I recommended in the video. Get there early! People show up late. You will have 3-4 hours before the tide of people arrive.

How is the weather in November?
@Sciencewithkids4 жыл бұрын
Almost perfect, like the rest of the year - Low to mid-80s. The bay water temperature is upper 70s ( might be 80 if you visit in early November). Rain is less frequent than September-Oct and usually only at night. Sunset is just before 6 PM right now it only varies about 10 minutes earlier by the end of the month. You can see the Sunrise At Hanauma Bay.

"Convict tangs" are called manini (mah-nee-nee) in Hawaiian, and in the local slang, "manini" means small or stingy.

Great details. I love the Hawaiian language.

Do not feed fish from your hands! They will accidentally bit the shit out of your hands. Also, if you have long hair and the tips dangle in the water, the fish will think it's food so be careful of this. Ha-Now-Mah bay, Ha-Naw-Mah bay, the actual pronunciation is halfway between those two.
@Sciencewithkids5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips and and pronunciation

Yes, i think you’re right it looks more like a sea cucumber. The color and shape match much better. Thank you for clarifying! 🐠

Is there a locker or storage area to place personal belongings?
@Sciencewithkids5 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are locker rentals on the Beach at Hanauma Bay (down the hill, not too far from the tram). They have small and large lockers. I believe the large lockers were $10/day. Enjoy your day there!

This is awesome and very very cool video! The beach is so beautiful and your tips are very helpful... :-) Among the tips, I'd say my favorite is #8 because you'd really be able to appreciate more the beauty of nature if you walk and take it slow... :-)

You are so talented! Wow what an amazing video and cinematography! Love how you explained the reef and keyholes plus all the tips when visiting I plan on going there one day and will be watching this again before going. I love creators like you who make youtube as amazing as it is! I left this video feeling inspired and like I learned something new! All while being entertained by the great narration and beautiful wildlife! ****Side note what kind of camera did you use to film these underwater shots?
@Sciencewithkids6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement! For the underwater shots, we used an Intova Edge X. It’s a 1080p @60 FPS camera safe to a depth of 60m. It’s designed specifically for underwater video.
