Smear the feet more on the wall, more surface area, and almost like an upwards dyno, start by sinking into it low with straight arms, and in 1 fluid motion push hard on the feet and use your arms to cause your center of mass to almost make a curve: starting low and close to the wall, going up and out from the wall, then pulling the arms to go INTO the wall as your motion is still going up, launching yourself on the palm(s) of your hand(s) while straightening your arm(s), using your skeleton (and a little bit triceps) to keep your body up. Then while in that stable position, move the feet to where the hands are and you'll be up on that thing without breaking a sweat :). If you feel like your triceps are really holding you back from mantling you can always do some simple exercises like seated sibs or overhead triceps extensions, but from what I've seen the main thing holding people back is technique and using momentum.

Right foot up where right hand was before matching the bad hold. Then it’s like a foot Gaston to the volume and up you go. The bad hold just becomes a balance guide not a force point

That‘s why I can recommend some serious gym training, especially antagonists. As a gym goer transfering to climbing I had some advantages, I couldnt understand for long time, that it was hard for even more experienced climbers. Therefore I lack some other points where the climbers struggle much less

I think you should come back to this one. Because you should absolutely train your original beta. As an exercise. Sure in this case you could switch up your beta and cruise through. But this is a really common position, which is sometimes forced and most importantly, a great exercise to keep maintain core tension between your hand and right foot. It's very common for people to drop the core tension when trying to move the hips.

what? that hold looks really good, is this v5?
@Charlie_Finnie12 күн бұрын
It used to be a foot so has no texture and is really slimy, it wouldn't actually be easier if it was less positive and just had some texture on it! Not graded, but probably around that
@dorianligthart33788 күн бұрын
I sounded like a jerk here, im sorry, it may be the angle of the camera and me thinking this is a slab, it might be closer to wall than slab. hahaha the hold is smiling at you from all the failed attempts :) with its slimy mouth :)

Thanks! Sometimes I go twice, sometimes zero so it averages about once a week over 2 years! I'm actually super weak relative to the grades I climb but I really like focusing on technique!

I just started close to a month ago now and I totally feel this! I have been weight lifting for about 3 years before and I was starting to dread the gym but have picked up climbing and its stopped me from burning out & am again excited for the gym! I love the mental but also physical challenges climbing brings! Its like an athletic puzzle and the community is just amazing! Luckily I live near a great gym so its been easy to go pretty often!

@ianmaclure590212 күн бұрын
I did a move like this recently, and as you found, the key is to give it some dynamic movement. The more you actually swing your legs up to the right of the hold, the better catch you will have on that side pull. When you are making the move, the left palm is just stability and pivot. After you catch the side pull, your weight shifts to the palm, and you have to control any barn door movement by planting feet, or absorbing the swing. Super fun move!

if you want to do the first move I would try throwing with your hips and not just reaching your hand out. you want to throw your hips further right to move your weight over to the right!
