Thanks for the interesting video but how I can model crack propagation in two attached members with and the crack started in the first member and is going perpendicular through the adhesive layer and finally propagate in the second member
@vaidehicrs98984 жыл бұрын
Hi Mostafa, Why you defined contact pair between the 2 blocks and not tie constraint ? There appears to be sliding contact between the 2 blocks. But what if we have a composite structure which needs tie between the sandwiched layers. Do we still use the general contact in that situation or can we use this fake property even in tie constraint ? Regards,

In your model, you defined the cohesive elements on block 1. But how do you define the connection between the cohesive elements and block2? Or how Abaqus understands that the Cohesive element is actually kind of a glue between Block1 and Block2? It seems that something is missing from this model.
@nicologrilli99314 жыл бұрын
I have the same observation. I try this procedure and block 1 and block 2 are not connected at all. Only block 2 moves, where displacement boundary conditions are applied but there is no interaction. Indeed block 1 does not show any stress or displacement in the video. Creating cohesive elements require to specify that a given cohesive element includes nodes belonging to the two parts. I don't know how to do it in CAE.
@mehdishishehbor59454 жыл бұрын
He forgot to add interaction. Simply using a tie between the cohesive element and surface of the other block will do the job.

@@mehdishishehbor5945 Is a 'tie' between block 1 and cohesive surface already implied when you the the mesh that way?
@阿姆斯特朗回旋加-p5i2 ай бұрын
@@aquibansari5080 No, the nodes are naturally connected in block 1 and the cohesive surface, because the generation process is "offset" based on the original mesh. It's the block 2 that needs the “tie” to establish the connection.

Mostafa Ismail after the damage of the glue between blocks , the blocks will have a friction I think, so, I think you should define tangential behaviour also .
@imhusker21 күн бұрын
I think it is not a “fake” property, but it is the contact property that replaces the cohesive property when the bond fails. It handles the condition if the parts come in contact after bond failure. This is the property you would give friction if that’s what you want. Without a “fake” property, the parts could penetrate each other, so you have to have it. I think it should have a normal property to prevent penetration. If the parts do not come in contact after bond failure, then it can be any property, like he says.

hi, my friend, i need making the mode soil and appear some problem THE SLAVE SURFACES ASSEMBLY_S_SURF-14 AND ASSEMBLY_S_SURF-12 INTERSECT EACH OTHER. THEY ARE PAIRED WITH MASTER SURFACES ASSEMBLY_M_SURF-16 AND ASSEMBLY_M_SURF-12 THAT ALSO INTERSECT EACH OTHER. IF BOTH PAIRS ARE *CONTACT PAIRs, THESE TWO PAIRS SHOULD NOT BE SIMULTANEOUSLY PRESENT IN A STEP BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE CONVERGENCE PROBLEMS; USE *MODEL CHANGE,TYPE=CONTACT PAIR TO REMOVE ONE OF THEM. IF BOTH ARE *TIE PAIRS, THE REDUNDANT TIES WILL BE REMOVED AUTOMATICALLY. IF ONE PAIR IS *TIE AND ANOTHER IS *CONTACT PAIR, REMOVE ONE OF THEM.
