Thank you so much for this greatly informative playlist. I'm an American, but have traced my father's family back to the Ahannays of Wigtown. His mother's surname was Hannah because my family is known by that surname in the western side of Jack County, Texas, USA, where they settled in the late 1800s.

Too many 19th century houses posing as castles. The main section of Castle Menzies is an example of the careful and long restoration of a large castle; a pity it is not shown here. An inspirational building. Meggernie Castle is a fine example of a 13th C castle with later additions; a pity it missed out. Eilean Donan Castle is an example of an almost complete rebuild (except for its foundations!); very popular with tourists.. Carnban Castle; it awaits very careful restoration but size (smallish) is on its side.

Fantastic presentation... Makes me feel like it is time once again to visit the land of my family. I wish the printing was posted a few seconds longer but what that caused me to do was to watch the presentation three times and enjoying every second of time watching and relaxing to some of the most heavenly music I have had the pleasure to listen to. I thank you and praise you for your beautiful work! Mike from the USA

Even in aged disrepair, these castles and their history remains very compelling and seems to draw my gaze. I can't wait to return to immerse myself in the Irish atmosphere and culture so readily prevalent throughout the country. Many blessings with health and safety wishes to the Irish people, no matter where they may roam. Beannaich Dia na h-Albannaich anns a ’Ghàidhlig! ~~ Seas gu cinnteach

I come from Dundee and we tend to forget we have 'castles'. That despite the fact we used to pass Fintry castle when we did cross country running at school! The only other I remember seeing was Claypots castle and we kinda didn't count Broughty Ferry castle as Broughty Ferry was a separate town. Nice to see the picture, thanks!

When I was a kid, Dad took me to Dudhope Castle to see the Model Railway club. From what I remember, the Castle was unrestored and in quite a poor state of repair. Good to see it's been restored. I've also been in Claypotts and Broughty Ferry Castles.

Craigievar Castle is my favourite castle ever. Visted there for my channel back in 2013 and I will be visiting again next month. I work in a few castles in England for English Heritage, but Scotish castles just seem to have the edge for me! MR
