@@powertoolsrepair Thanks for the reply. A different question entirely... Does the Makita 18v charger or battery bms allow charging of more than a 6ah pack? I was thinking of making my own 21700 18v battery with 4.5ah Molicel P45B's. I can't remember where I saw it buy heard the charger will stop charging once 6.0ah has been reached on the chargers calculations. Thanks again.

@@artinkinsj6262 Thank you so much for the reply - do you have a specific listing/seller on Aliexpress for the casing with BMS you used? You don't have to post a link as it may be flagged just a few keywords or the seller name would be awesome! Thanks again for the confirmation.

Awesome video! I just took mine apart with ease thanks to you, but I still don't know what is wrong with it. So randomly, it just stopped working, period. It was not droped or wet, and it's very well taken care of. It even looks new. But over 4 years old, so it's way past warranty. So, when you put any battery on it and hit the switch, the light flashes quickly once, but the motor won't run and doesn't even make a noise, nothing but a quick flash. If you keep hitting the switch, the light will keep flashing once, but nothing else, almost as if the safety feature to not rip your wrist from your arm when the bit gets caught on something is stuck... please help as I called a dewalt repair center, and they are literally charging me the price of a new one.
@powertoolsrepair

They told you to change controller? Can your motor be spinned with hand mechanicaly? I think you need new controller to replace. If you disassembled the tool then you really can change that controller, its not cheap, but maybe worth it. Try to ask local DeWalt dealers for price of the part and if you are located in European Union I can check for price with shipping

Its not Mikwaukee mindset to recall something, they just can replace it when tool is under warranty,but they don't really care about powertools repair after warranty because you can see of spare part prices that customer is pushed to purchase new tool when old one is broken

What if I can’t tighten the Chuck to put an Alan key in there?
@powertoolsrepair
@powertoolsrepair Ай бұрын
Try two smaller alan keys, alan key and flat screwdriver, you can try to press chuck strong in vise and turn drill to counterclockwise direction. If chuck still spins you can remove chuck cover and then repeat step with vise and finally if none of that works cut chuck off but try not to damage gear assy thread
@cpcfreak
@cpcfreak Ай бұрын
Caution, on some models I've had associates destroy the mode selector mechanism by using the impact driver to remove the chuck. There is usually a relative thin plate in the selection assembly that controls the shift between torque, drill and hammer, the impact driver has enough strength that it can bend or warp that mode selection plate, mode selection no longer works correctly and the torque settings are wrong. It can be corrected but it requires the gearbox to be torn down and rebuilt which is significant.

I'd say it's not a good repair. It will work. For some time. Mixing worn cells with new ones in a series connection is not a good idea - cells will wear differently. Good pack of series (SxPx) should be picked from same cells, preferably from same lot and even then checked for internal impedance. Especially for high power loads.
