Highly enjoyable, thank-you! But there is a long blank section at the end.

When you went down injured in the 70s, it meant that you were injured.

That crowd looks dangerous to be part of due to the overcrowding. Interesting that there doesn't appear to be any club stewards and all the policing is done by the actual police. Its much rarer to see police at a game these days. Also all the players here on the pitch are British not a foreigner in sight.

this Athelitco Madrid team was possibly the dirtiest and most corrupt side to ever take part in the European Cup. I remember jumping out of my seat when Bayern got a last minute equalizer in the final and then won the replay 4 nil. Karma

Brian Moore saying "fence the fans in." Oh dear. Of course, he had no crystal ball about Hillsborough and Bradford, and probably a few other problems, but those words seem so naive looking back.

Keegan not fit
@kailashpatel17064 күн бұрын
Keegan into issues with fitness and form even before his dodgy back in that Summer but the failure to qualify four years in 1978 when many of these England players would have been prime (and others like Francis, Currie, Beattie, Peter Barnes, Pearson, Latchford, Greenhoff) not featured here...they would have had a good run...
@kailashpatel17065 күн бұрын
Fascinating to speculate how this 1978 England team might have done at the WC, Coppell and Barnes rampant, Currie, Keegan and Brooking (not playing here) in midfield, Watson and Beattie in defence, young Wilkins and Francis upfront...maybe the wide defensive positions would be a weak points bu Mills was very solid..

The TIYL teaser from Brian Moore happened to be Mike Yarwood, I would have tuned in hoping for Boycott or Ali and would been somewhat underwhelmed.

I started going in 75 when I was 11, started off in the shed but by the time this match was played I was in gate 13. If I remember right this was the match the Leeds fans put a telegraph pole through the score board.

I was at the match. Just turned up at the stadium and got my ticket there. Jack Withim got a hat trick but injuries later that season curtailed his career. If memory serves he had come from Sheffield Wed for big money 45k. Some great passing skills by both teams under pressure.

That trick shot by Willie Young to set up Stapleton was totally… Willie Young. I was there. Ever present at home, away as often as possible. My first full season of attending and when they got to the Final I was convinced that I was their lucky charm. lol. Heartbroken at Wembley. Had to endure the embarrassment of traveling home to the other side of London on public transport, dressed in red and white.
