The music is quite loud and distracting/repetitive in all your videos. No music or at least quiet subtle music would have been much better. This video series is the best in displaying the OCBR. I'm giving this some thought about riding my recumbent trike down this route next summer. The Coos Bay Bridge, you could have walked across on the sidewalk. Also the 7 Devils route is worth doing for saying that you Did It. I have a friend that lives in Florence, and he has ridden the OCBR twice. He wrote a book about it. "The Oregon Coast Bike Route. Riding The Legend." By Steve Greene. Check it out.

How did you get your car from your start location to the finish location?

Still riding a fair amount, just not touring. I have footage from an overnighter to Antelope Island outside Salt Lake City, but never got through the edit. Have fun on the Oregon Coast, it's a fantastic ride. You just can't beat having access to so many great state parks for camping.

Outstanding Adventure. That's the way to see the world. I've done it myself. That's how I know. Keep up the good work. Influence people to do the same thing. I'm planning a pcbr trip myself right now starting the beginning or the first week of October. They say it will rain in Washington. I guess that's kind of like saying the sun rises in the east. I'm in South Florida. If the approaching hurricane bypasses this area at least I will be able to get it off the ground. At my age, I might be biting off more than I can chew. I will just have to wait and see. Your journey is great and healthy. All that fresh air right off the ocean. All that good exercise. Up and down the Hills. Good work.

We rented a one-way uhaul van/truck, put our bikes in the back, left our car in the uhaul parking lot (they let us park behind the gates so it was secure for the week), and drove the uhaul with our bikes up to astoria. Some people fly into portland with their bikes, assemble the bikes, ride to astoria and down the coast, and then rent a uhaul to get back to the airport.

Thin tires! Gravel bikes?
@adventurebycycle79373 жыл бұрын
We rode our Salsa Marrakesh bikes that are really more touring than gravel, they're the same bikes we did the Oregon Cost with, but used MTB Nano gravel tires (40c) for this ride. I've since done a section of the Idaho Hotsprings Route on the same bike and used a Schwalbe Mondial (I think that was a 47c) that I preferred over the WTB.

Nice ride. 70 pounds of stuff seems like a lot between the two of you, especially for an overnight trip. Was that just testing out the new setup? Or did you find that you could have done without a lot of stuff that you initially packed?
@adventurebycycle79373 жыл бұрын
Yeah, good call out. This was our first touring trip and we went into it as a precursor to a planned trip down the Oregon Coast. So yeah, we had more than we needed for an overnight trip. We've since acquired some lighter gear and found things we don't need. It's all a balance between comfort and weight, which is a game I think we all constantly play.

I don't know, it would depend on where you stay the night. As of today it looked like the campground at Leo Carrillo SP (where we stayed) is closed. It would also depend on whether or not any of the beach boardwalks are closed.

Hey guys, just binge-watched your Oregon coast tour and loved it. I've roadtripped the 101 myself (by car) in september 2017, only just a couple of days behind you. The smoke had lifted by that time. The Oregon coast is truly spectacular and your videos bring back great memories. Also I did see a lot of cyclists en route. Who knows I'll be back some day, on 2 wheels instead of 4!

Race 4him sorry, we didn’t keep track of that. We ate 2 packs of instant oatmeal every morning, had a cliff bar mid morning, then ate out for lunch. Peter Joonkyu Kang no. You don’t have to reserve them. When you get to the check in booth you just ask for a spot in the hiker/biker camp area. Sometimes you share the table and fire pit with other campers but many have their own spots. It’s $7 a person.
