on the off chance you check later. its designed to be a sprint. slowly ramping up in speed behind the motorbike lets everyone get up to speed while drafting and saving all their energy for the sprint itself after the bike pulls off

@@adamlynch9153 7 laps is the entire race. The pace bike only there for 4.5 laps. It took 4 laps to build the speed up to 50kph. Also, track cycling is not an all out racing type of sport, it kinda like cat and mouse pursuit game. When the pace bike is there, thats when racers build strategies of where to position themselves or when to attack
