I was 10 years - it was cold. Milk was delivered for a while and frozen…no tea! Disaster! We just got on with it and in our cold homes and felt frozen, scraping ice from inside windows but still getting to work and to school. It was simply , very cold. But, sadly, in those days our wildlife were not cared for as we have learned to care for Nature today. If it happened again we would be out filling bird feeders, making places for old life to shelter and, quite rightly, caring about their welfare as we do for our own….and the River Blackwater froze I recall…quite a spectacle to see the sea frozen with ice blocks floating about where water could still flow.

Another great tractor run tho at the start there was a van with Goat on its side as few days ago I was on Pencoed platform 1 and I saw that very van pass to wards the monument as for the 🚜 convo they had very colourful lights including a car and a three wheel trike. The route was down towards Ynysawdre I noticed which I assume they were going towards aberkenfig plus the kids were enjoying it as some sweets were thrown out.

The Class 158831 went to Cheltenham Spa from Maesteg however when it returned form Cheltenham Spa instead of returning to Maesteg it was swapped with a Class 197011. The red DB Class 66 with the slabs heading west was Class 66001.

The weather over the weekend has been atrocious with heavy rain 🌧️ and high winds and with another shop due to close down, this one is Shoe 👟👠 zone at least that Boots the pharmacy is staying so is WH Smith's but what about the Post office 🏤 well my ex bus driver friend Lionel said that it was going to be with WH Smith's but the good news he said was it will stay in Bridgend but reallocated somewhere which is sensible I think as Bridgend is to lose its Homebase which is in administration but as Mr Darksaber said Port Talbot & Swansea do it much better and that's why Bridgend is gone to pot. Bridgend needs more investment more police 🚓 on the beat and clear people who cause antisocial behavior and sleeping rough in doorways well that's my opinion.

I’d started school that September - one of my abiding memories is trekking behind my older siblings and the snow going over the top of my wellingtons, then getting home to a coal fire (with warm dry socks ready and waiting thanks to mum) Winter 1976-77 was pretty bad - given that we’d just had the “long, hot summer”.

I saw DB 66 light engine as it came from Bridgend but a GWR Class 800 got in the way but you managed to see it at Cardiff Central so thanks as it's DB Class 66010 you also said there was a 4 coach DMU for Maesteg and realtime Trains website say Class 197049 which is named Castell Caeriw Cyflym / Carew Castle with Class 197007 which is named Happy Valley. DB Class 66656 with those loaded slabs was struggling a bit when leaving Cardiff but by the time it pass Canton it picked up speed.

I noticed there was a road closure behind the group of people and someone respectively honked their horn which is annoying you only had a police constable and a female officer here in Pencoed We had road closures but not by the police did see police Three PCSOs and a PC. It seemed to be dry with you were mind it was okay here bit drizzly and I've just heard a name mentioned but I have to hear it many times to clarify it said J Dyer which I don't think is a relation of my family or not to I know of.

A good turn out again, yes one tooted horn, just before road closure, could hear everything spoken this year, as traffic was calmed, had a coffee in cafe before heading home, spitty drizzly this morning, was ok when had stroll there and back

I was 20 and lived with my mother and aunt in the centre of London in a top floor floor flat that could only be heated by coal fires and a small paraffin stove. It had a huge glass skylight in the roof and the cold struck down through that like icy knives. In Regent Street the snow froze into icy furrows. I cannot imagine how terrible it was for those in country districts, considering how bad it was in the capital.
