The Ramblers probably is the most long-lasting band founded in the 1920s, since it still exists since its resuscitation in 1974 after the first outfit was temporarily disbanded in 1964. But the 1930s probably were their their very best years, which is eloquently shown in this catchy, energetic but marvellously refined and polished performance. The splendid orchestral sound is perfectly blending together with Topy Glerum's smooth and elegant vocal. Thank you so much for sharing!

A very astonishing interpretation of the tempo "slow fox" indeed, since only the first band more or less sticks to it, while the second is not even coming close! The first rendition (pressed on a disc with a most remarkable, rare label in a stunningly modern layout) is a solidly, very well played foxtrot by the Jazz-Orchester Erwin Steinbach, albeit featuring a relatively weaker vocal refrain. Overall, this performance was quite enjoyable though. As for Dajos Béla, he is infusing this tune with tons of pep thanks to the notably fast tempo. And that hot tempo does not diminish in any way accuracy of playing! On the contrary, this is absolutely flawless, elegant and highly sophisticated by both the orchestra and the vocalist. Thank you so much for this fascinating comparison!

I would take the second one as a more classy rendition - music, style, all the shape of it, still the label of the first one is interesting as something rare. It was surely convinced by the composer as slow-fox but Dajos wanted to put more fire in to it, keeping still the original denotion, with a good final result !
