How long do you leave them in the soy milk?
@tanyarobinson8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. It can be from 30 min to keeping it overnight. You get a stronger result that way. A deeper shade. 😍

Hi, do you have a video showing the result of using this compared to not using it ?
@tanyarobinson2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lyre, the main difference would be in how colourfast it is. If there is no mordanting, the colour will easily wash away or disappear. it is sad when a nice shade is achieved:(

Hi Tanya, thank you so much for sharing. I'm wondering what do you add to your sanding machine? 😊
@tanyarobinson2 жыл бұрын
Hi Zdena, my sanding machine is protected with the bubble wrap from below. I know people also use piece of IKEA drawer laying mat which is the same idea. Xx

So glad to know a dye bath can be used for so long! Did you store them in the fridge? I live in a cold wether and use for 4 days normally, but leave outside.
@tanyarobinson2 жыл бұрын
Hi Loraine, I sometimes keep my used dye baths in the cold pantry room( up to a week). I try to plan my projects that I can dye a few things at once. I doesn’t always work like that. Fridge is too small. I use the freezer sometimes but I prefer making fresh dye baths because all if the colour pigment is at the bottom of the larger jar or a container when you try to reuse it. It needs good stirring 😅

Hi Tanya. Do you also recommend to use white vinegar when using iron acetate? the domestic one with nails. And would you say this is important for cotton also? Thanks if you could clear me. :*
@tanyarobinson2 жыл бұрын
*I use white vinegar when I make iron water to pre-treat linen. Typically just iron water without white vinegar for cotton. **I try and use dyes that contain tannins for cotton first ( avocado stones, oak bark, pine cones). They are the easiest and don’t require pre-treating really. The colour shade becomes a bit lighter but it is still colour fast. To ensure it lasts long, I pre-treat the fabric in advance.

@@tanyarobinson when you refer to "pre-treating" the cotton fabric first do you mean with a mordant or something else?
@tanyarobinson2 жыл бұрын
@@tiffanyzal-herwitz8745 yes, mordanting in this case. ☺️

Hi Tanya I am also a natural dyer. I now live in NZ. Normally I dye wool yarn but I have recently started cross stitching again and I am going to start dyeing my linen fabrics for my embroidery projects. It feels like so few people do naturally dying. I am glad I have found you. Catherine
@tanyarobinson2 жыл бұрын
Hi Catherine, hand dyed linen plus embroidery sounds fantastic. 🌾 You have so many leaves, bark, flowers in nature in NZ. I want to encourage you to experiment and see what happens 😃 thank you for your kind words and support. Tanya
