I'd find it deeply disrespectful to be hired for a position based on something as trivial as my gender rather than my capabilities. Dressing this up as an "advantage" for me is nothing short of discrimination, no matter how you frame it. The best person for any role should be chosen based solely on merit. Your reliance on gender pay gap data is also questionable. I suspect it fails to account for critical variables, such as the preferences that influence women’s career choices. Speaking for myself, I have no aspiration for a high-paying job; I aspire to raise a family. This is not societal conditioning-it is biological. Many women feel the same way because it is natural. Your push to "promote a cultural shift in Australia’s workplaces so they are no longer based on the premise of a wife at home as the primary carer" is not progressive-it’s counterproductive. By disregarding natural inclinations and imposing your vision of societal progress, you undermine the choices and values of countless women who prioritise family over career. This approach doesn’t empower women; it alienates them.

Start with superannuation paid on overtime hours worked first. It's costing hard workers a fortune by retirement.

Channel 31 should be going as long as free ABC entails. It gives a vast range of different communities the option to have a source in another country. To be blunt crucial it gives annuity for the country they are living in. Plus a bit more respect for to have them heard.

It's like the constitution, human rights declaration, and disability protocol with you lot, a bunch of poetic words written on paper, that would have been better making toilet paper for two fat lady's to fight over at Woolworths, why Am I getting a pittance for full time care, why can't the Autistic lady I look after even get NDIS, why can't I get assistance for housing commission, poetic words, with no meaning.

I recall Reagan....trickle down economics....they get too mucch, the rest get the crumbs.... Reagan said regarding Social Welfare, that people should look after themselves. Well make the basic wage $2000 a week and we could look after ourselves.

How dare they take away the aged pension and replace it with a welfare card. These people have worked all there working life and have paid there taxes . If they think for one minute that they can take away the pension and replace it with a welfare card then pay all the taxes back to them . Or kick this useless mob out at the next election. Bring it on. Cannot wait to see the back of them.
@cjlloyd533 жыл бұрын
The aged pension IS NOT WELFARE. It is a self funded pension payed into via our taxes throughout our working lives. A quick look at the history and beginnings of the aged pension with affirm this fact. In the beginnings Australians had their taxes raised specifically to fund their aged pension once they retired. It was not much different to compulsory superannuation, which we now have to pay into as well. The system has been sadly mismanaged and some how morphed into "welfare". Nonsense. It's OUR MONEY. It's our self funded pension and we have a right to use it as we see fit. How demeaning, undignified and cruel to take that autonomy away from any adult. Remember that most of us get to this stage of life. What do Australians want that to look like? Don't even get me started on the reprehensible act of privatising pensions.

In Australia, the only "public interest journalism" is the ABC. Both the Labour and Liberal parties have attacked this important source of news and analysis when it suits them. That usually means when they are in government, or when a story critical of their party emerges from the ABC. Politicians of all stripes have demanded the ABC be punished, have its budget slashed, be privatised, or otherwise be limited in its ability to hold government, opposition or politicians in general to account. I'm confident that Ms. Thwaites would, in other times, add her voice to the calls for the ABC budget to be slashed or some other punishment imposed. For the moment, in opposition, Ms. Thwaites chooses to stand by "public interest journalism". I, for one, will be interested to see what the future holds. Please note that Ms. Thwaites is my own federal Member of Parliament.

As the biggest rort of public money as the Morrison government handed billions to corporate tax dodgers milking job keeper payments as millionaires and billionaires pocketed millions in bonuses with no mutual obligation to pay it back. Though the Morrison government increased mutual obligation on jobseekers the lowest paid people in the country but would you expect anything less from conservative con artists don't mention class warfare or the politics of envy who would want to be like these corrupt politicians feeding the monsters of greed they represent the government for inequality@$$$$$$$$$$$

Thanks for standing up for people rather than just powerful company owners. The best way to drive the economy is to put money in the pockets of those who need to spend it, rather than in the trust accounts of millionaires or huge defence funding for politicians turned lobbyists like Christopher Pyne.
