This is so sad, My Grandfather worked at Briggs steel (gone) my grandmother worked as a sowing machine operator of auto seats, at Dodge main (gone) My dad worked ay The GM tech center in Warren. I was born in 1954 and we lived in Hamtramick at Carpenter and Maine, In 1967 when the black riots hit my dad joined the whiter flight out of Detroit to Hazel park for a few years as he advanced at the Tech center we moved to Birmingham. Myself, I hired into GM's Willow Run Transmission (gone) ( former B-24 Liberator bomber plant) in 1976.That closed and was sent to Romulus Transmission (gone). Then that closed and I was sent to Toledo Transmission Operations, (Still open) The last 4 years of my tiime with GM I comuted from Dearborn to Toledo working 12 hr shifts. The money was great but all I did was eat, sleep and work and commute, No time for my family and retired in 2006. It breaks my heart to see what a certian race and The big three chasing profits at the expense of quality can decimate Detroit. I moved to Colorado for 10 years, now I'm in Arazona, If and when I visit Detroit it's still a shithole. This Video clearly shows the demise of Detroit, Thank You.

The Detroit police ended Detroit forever. I remember, at 18, working at Scotten & Dillion Chewing Tobacco Factory, summer of 67. Just graded from high school...getting ready to go to E.M.U. Getting in convoys of workers at Rouge bridge. Riding in my dad's car going down Fort St. ARMY Military vechiles surrounding us being escorted to work. Jeefs w 50 caliber machine guys, scanning the roof top, for black snipers. Not a good end for a kid that loved taking the bus to Downtown, where my mom worked, at Cadillac Square. Going to Grinell's, to buy records. Seeing everyone scurrying to work. 13 years old n hanging out Downtown, in 1963. What a great place to be. The center of the world to us kids. In 4 years, look what happened. Went on Hastings & 12th Strret & never feeling threatened. Fat, white policeman, w chrome helmets & hugh billy sticks, a few years later. D was done. In 67 & 68, going to The Grande Ballroom, seeing the shells of burned out houses. Very, very depressing. The Longhairs, didn't get hassled, going for the music. No one hassled us. People protected the ballroom...cause that was where the music was. Baker's, The 20 Grand. Left forever in 72.
