Amazing , a dream engine from RLM, a wish in future, I hope soon. Just wander, would you know more or less the life time before the engine gearbox needs a rebuild or re new the clutch ? how is it dring slow trafic, if ever stuck... of course it is pointless to take it in centre cities but I thought on a long road trip you may need to cross cities... Thanks for the great ride !
@aleks_the_Great135 ай бұрын
@@konstantinmoraglis5300 the engine of the life and gearbox is heavily dependent on how much track time it sees and how hard you drive it. I've heard people rebuilding the engine after 3 years and an average of 18 track days a year which is a lot... Slow trafic can be a pain and it is a bit difficult in 1st gear but you get used to it. If I'd do it again I would buy a k20 mk indy with an aggressive 280 bhp engine and lightweight build. Also remember these cars are best build by yourself then you know where things are and how they have been build.

@@aleks_the_Great13 Hi there, thanks for the info. I am a biker too, I guess it helps to get use to this setup. The sequential gearbox, the lightness of the engine screeming up to 11k is adictive...I heard the Duratec R is a good performance engine. All the best

Sounds amazing. I kinda miss my old GSX-R engined kit but I'm at an age now where I need something more civilised so I now have a 2.0 Zetec turbo with 272bhp. It's quicker than my old BEC too but mainly I enjoy the less frantic nature of it. I've never had a busa engined car but that would be my choice if I wanted a track car again, they are amazing on track days.

@@steverabbits has been an amazing car to drive but for me the experience has been ruined by the reliability and the fact that I haven't built it myself... So to get answers of where everything is and not have the confidence to repair due to lack of information forced me to sell it and move to a normal car now.. 😀 I do enjoy the mk5 gti edition 30 that I've built with 380 bhp and it lapped quicker at Snetterton than the kit car... Well pleased with it.

Great videos! Been really interested in the MK‘s for a while now. RPM’s + sequential, yes please. How tall are you? And more generally how have you found the ownership?
@aleks_the_Great137 ай бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate it... I'm 6.4 and you can fit fairly well inside the car as long as you are not massively overweight I would say 😀... If you attempt to build one and do most work yourself then I say yes go for it... If you want to buy one like me then no.. Reason for that is that MK are very poor at providing you manual or even briefing of where things are, fuse box diagram, fuel pump, etc... It's a very nice and fast car but their after care for customers is average to be fair and it was a very frustrating experience for me as the car broke so many times on track and off track.. That's why I sold it and moved on. But I suspect if you know what parts are being put in and how to repair them it might be different... Just know that there is always something going wrong with them 😀...hope this helps

Hi mate, Ive also got a MK5 I track and really fancy some of the Area spec Nitrons. Would you say they're worth it? Thanks and yours looks to handle so well!
@aleks_the_Great138 ай бұрын
I only have amazing things to say about area spec suspension... Although I went for verkline arms and hard race rears etc to achieve the camber and toe, the Coilovers are from a different world... I have them on full soft on the road and they are really amazing... On track I've used them to their suggested setup and they perform fantastic... Over the curbs and the damping is just amazing. The car oversteer is controlled and does not understeer unless you are over heating the front tyres... For me it's the best handling car I've owned and it's confidence inspiring... I would buy them again 100 percent. What power and brakes you running?
@robertjeakins36968 ай бұрын
I thought that would be the case lol, looks like I’ll be dropping 3.5k on some then! Currently same as you, Rtech stage 2+, ex BTCC front brakes, gripper diff, ABS motorsport wide arch kit with 18x10j TCR wheels on AR1’s. Got Avo dampers on at the moment which are okay but definitely want to upgrade. I also have front TT hubs, arms, driveshafts and rack. Gives more roll centre but do want some verkline arms really. Rear is all hardrace arms with spherical bearings.
@aleks_the_Great138 ай бұрын
@robertjeakins3696 verkline will give you the feel through the steering wheel for what the front is doing as well. Which is agreat... Go for it and then let's track the cars together 😃... I'm looking to dip below 2.10 at Snetterton... My front wings will be fitted soon 🙃
