Brave, silly, stupid, funny, surprisingly sad for a moment, scary with trucks--OMG. All that in 6 minutes!! Shocking and wonderful. So good.

To Build a Fire haunts me to this day. I also remember a fairly long discourse on the importance of dry socks, which may be in the story or I attribute it as something Jack London probably wrote. I hope I didn’t make that up because I feel superior that Chat GPT hallucinates things and I’d hate to admit I do the same thing.

Loving the intersection of two of my favorite interests, cycling and standup! My wife and I even own a tandem, so I appreciate the inherent comedy a tandem bike carries with it lol. In this episode it seemed like the brakes didn't have the preferred stopping power on the bridge downhill, which isn't surprising for cable actuated disc brakes. TRP makes some cable actuated hydraulic disc brakes that would significantly up your stopping power. If you google TRP HY/RD, you'll find them. Loving the content and looking forward to more!

Kudos for braving that cold on a bike! When I ride in cold temps, I like to wear clear glasses to reduce tearing up (safety goggles or fancier). Regardless of what kind of glasses you wear, there's still a balance between riding fast enough to get to where you're heading quicker, but slow enough you don't make the wind-chill too bad. Godspeed!

That is the power of physical hotness... for men to women. For women, you just had to sit there and not say anything. If I had that birthmark, nothing I would ever do wouldn't be creepy. Even Drew Brees felt like he had to have something done with his.

17:54 - I'm not the best barometer (I own a car, but only for intercity travel; I'm usually on a bike myself, or on foot, locally), but when I see anybody riding on the street (that caveat to exclude people who drive their bikes to a trail, and only ride them there), I default to presuming they're Good People.

(But also: probably don't look at single-occupant cars expecting horny looks. Even if that'd plausibly happen in another situation, people driving cars, especially in NYC, are just Angry.)

I think bikes are cool. One of my coolest dates involved a tandem, two ferries, and a border crossing. Though since my divorce, my tandem has been relegated to decor, so maybe not so cool after all 🤷‍♂️
