Aloha, You are so wrong dude........at least the name of this channel is accurate. As a dude with a surname Weisbecker I have been called an antisemite since high school by jealous jewish kids from La Jolla, CA that I did not even know? Just because I could hit the lip? I had to study history and expose the truth simply to defend my grandfather's name? Take your evil communist agenda as far away from surfing as you can man. Surfers are not victims and have NEVER been racist in any way. You next video should be about the cause of the WWI and how it affected Germany before the rise of Trump 1.0. LOL..... Also, please find the book "Hunting Nazi's in Hollywood" written 10 years before WWII to understand the reason the JEWS in Hollyweird promoted the image you are so obsessed with. Give me a break..... What a shock this garbage was created at USC. Hilarious, just shows money can still buy massive ignorance. God Bless America.

The Shaun Tomsen segment was very good, but otherwise you really didn't prove your central thesis of fundamental anti-semitism in surfing. There is controversy around what the swastika on Pacific Homes Systems boards represented, as the symbol also appears in other cultures with different meanings. In any case, the company dropped the symbol in 1937. Miki Dora was a great surfer, but a lousy human being. It's hardly fair to paint the entire southern California surf scene of that time as fundmentally anti-semitic. That is not to deny the fact that anti-semitism exists, or to excuse it. But many of the examples you detail, including some of your own, took place outside of surfing. In my own experience, two of my Jewish roommates in college got me into surfing way back in the late 1970's, for which I am very grateful. And that was at a school south of the Mason-Dixon Line on the east coast. I am sure they experienced anti-semitism in their lives, but I never saw it from their fellow surfers, the vast majority of which were gentiles like me.

Pacific Home Systems produced Swastika surfboards in 1930. At that point in time the swastika, a global symbol, was in no way a symbol culturally associated with Nazism. In 1930 nobody outside of Germany would have any idea what the Nazi Party was at all. An at that time, obscure nationalist-socialist-xenist political movement. Swastika surfboards had as much to do with Nazi Germany as Buddhist swastikas in Japan, Basque swastikas in Atlantic France & Spain or Navajo & Apache swastikas in southwestern United States. Regardless mainland American surf culture is one of white American Protestant background & context 100%. It is worldwide historically a sport of the privileged classes (take Peru for example). American beach culture in general is a white christian Californian bourgeoise. Look at South LA, miles of beaches a stones throw from Compton, Inglewood etc. It is good to look at these things. In one sense, there is a certain degree of magic naïveté that existed in the first generations of surfers. Surfing’s lack of intellectualism & inherent cultural vacuum is one of the things that makes it unique, ideally sub cultural & outside of society. It is good it has values completely its own. At the same time this is also the reason it can be boring or sad. Anyway, interesting documentary thank you for making it.

This video is delusional. Dora’s best friend and photographer Grant Roloff was Jewish. Sounds like your creating some hardship where is doesn’t exist. You are always gonna find some idiot out of the bunch. However videos like this permeate antisemitism where it seldom exists.

I've been luky to Surf all over the place & the worest surf etiquette I've ever experenced has always come from Israelis. It's a known fact in the surf world there behavior in the water can be horrendous. I couldnt care less about where your from or your reglious views it's only where your at that counts.

Sounds like some made up hardship for a pretty privileged dude. Go live in an actual hard place like small african town or small asian fishing village. So lame that there is still budget for telling us all our grandfathers were bad people. Move on.

What is needed in this world is secularization and a post religious spirituality, general gratefulness and humility, kindness towards the other animals including humans, but not medieval cults.

Hi everyone! I'm Ryan Mekenian, the director of 'Spokespeople.' Thank you all so much for watching. This film was a labor of love, shot in my hometown of Los Angeles. I wanted to explore the complex issue of mobility justice and how it impacts the lives of everyday people. How did you connect with the themes of this film? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for supporting the arts. - Ryan

So explain what you mean by this comment. Or did you just repeat what some other dumbass said? You people are pathetic. He's the number 1 late night show. I understand liking something is subjective, but according to the numbers, he's on top. I'm guessing you just repeat what you hear from an idiot and then laugh like you made a funny. I'll venture one more guess... You voted for Cheeto man?
