Jim, not to be critical, but you have the polarity of your voltmeter backwards. Bently uses a -24VDC power supply and the output of the proximeter is (-) negative. This is critical when understanding the gap voltage is part of diagnosing a machine condition. It is use for radial shaft position (X/Y) and axial position for thrust measurements. Monitoring shaft centerline using DC Gap voltage can tell the analyst alot about shaft position in the bearing. When using a standard proximiter, it is -24VDC and when using the Bently 990 transmitter, it is +24VDC. This is also critical to know because the phase reference on the 990 transmitter is 180 degrees out of phase.

can i use 8 mm probe to measure radial vibration of a 27 mm nickel alloy shaft?

Say, I am using the same valve but I have been given values to start the valve travel at 11 and 13 psi as my full travel. Should I adjust the spring tension first according to these values or should I do on the positioner?
@jimdiggins1017 ай бұрын
The actuator should have a rated benchset and travel distance. When the control valve assembly was engineered, the actuator specs were selected based on the force required to operate the valve. This test verifies the actuator performs according to the original design. The positioner reduces the error that is a result of mechanical friction.

Dear sir. I have two probes with different part number, PN: 86691-08065-0435-25 and PN:86691-09246-0435-25. I only know they are 2.5 m length but i am not sure they can be used interchangeably. Is it possible? What are their differences?

I don't have that manual, so I cannot say for certain. From a performance standpoint it should work. Difference will be in the custom features. Such as mounting options, length of armored jacket, etc..

Thank you very much for the information, although I have a question, at minute 2:24 you put the value of 1 in the voltage column. why 1? What shouldn't be 10mil*200mV= 2V?
@jimdiggins101 Жыл бұрын
The response rate of 200mV / mil is only valid within the range of linearity. 0-10 mils is outside this range.

How tight should the jams be tightened. What are the risks of not setting the jam nuts?
@jimdiggins101 Жыл бұрын
The jams keep the connection block in place In most applications, the feedback arm connects to the block. In some cases, even a slight rotation can create feedback error or loss of position indication.

Hi thanks for the video ! We bought a couple of these fisher control valves and we noticed that they don't all have the same bench set values, what's the reason for this ? I also noticed that you did your bench set from 9 to 15 psi, so when will the valve start to move? Is it 9 psi or 3 psi?
@jimdiggins101 Жыл бұрын
The bench set is engineered to operate the valve based on the process stream and will determine the pressure required to open the valve.

I seen some valve bodies have a line on it instead of a flow arrow? Is the line an indication for flow?
@jimdiggins101 Жыл бұрын
Some have a line on the body that has a downward angle, which represents the flow path through a globe valve. That may be what you are referring to. This alone does not indicate flow however, but for general service, you install with the angled downward part facing up stream so the flow enters below the plug and flows up through the port.
