An original foot clutch on a Harley isn’t a suicide clutch, oem lock via a cam and stay disengaged without a foot on them, a suicide clutch has no cam and needs to be held down otherwise it springs back and engages, easier to use on the move but not so much when stopped, specially on a hill without a front brake (and in neutral) which is still legal in some USA states and why they got called that.
@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs21 күн бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. I have now idea about the subject of ‘suicide clutches but am very keen to learn more and maybe ride a bike with one. What an experience that’ll be. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍🏻
@id10tcertified19 күн бұрын
@@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs There's probably some video's on here but most get confused between a jockey shift, oem foot clutch and suicide clutch, a jockey shift you know is under your butt but suicide clutch is pretty much like a hand lever mounted down where you foot is, it's often just the oem one with the rear bit cut off and the mechanism removed and is either engaged or disengaged there's no cam or over centre spring to hold it disengaged much like a sidestand is held up which free's up your left foot (right on a vintage Indian) they're not so bad if you have a front brake but in some USA states you don't have to have one and the ever so long challenge to clean up the looks of custom bikes they built and rode them as such... Imagine stopping on a hill (facing up, down not so bad as you can roll) you can't hold the clutch pedal in and brake on as both feet are off the ground, the only way was to have your foot on the brake and be in neutral then quickly clutch in, reach down and smash it into gear and release the clutch without falling over which was a circus act worth a centre ring, the invent of lock up clutch's made it easy, just leave it in gear, twist the throttle and go... Triumph had a something similar in the 1950's I think but if memory serves it was called a "slick shift" you had to have pressure on the gear lever to keep it still then release and you took off, it was an option on the later pre units but not many people got it.

Build the roads properly in the first place and they won’t get washed away every time it rains.
@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs24 күн бұрын
The rain excuse is a furthy. Take a look at the roads at the borders, both NSW and S.A roads are in great shape. Its not like it only ever rains in Victoria. S.A has great roads in comparison and most of our weather hits there first. Its clear Government inaction and financial mismanagement.
