No. If this had caused an accident you would be 100% at fault. You're the idiot, you could clearly see they had very limited room to merge into the lane you are traveling in as their was ending. By law, you are required to gove them room when able. You couldve changed lanes before they merged like you did in order to go around them while they were still merging, or you coudlve just slowed down a bit. It is true they shoudlve been makimg a better attempt to speed up. That does not wxcuse your lack of awarness and idiocy trying to blame others for something you did

His lane doesn't end, it just turns into an off ramp. It's not your job to make sure you know where someone else is going to go. He didn't use his blinker. He is in 100% fault.

But the person recording visibly sped up to create this situation. Turn in your license you don't deserve it.

It seems there’s a misunderstanding about how merging works. The merging vehicle must yield to vehicles already on the highway. It’s the responsibility of the merging driver to adjust speed and find a safe gap in traffic before merging. Blinker or not, failing to yield puts the merging driver at fault. Here’s the legal breakdown by state to back this up: Michigan Law: 257.649 Right of way; rules; violation as civil infraction. (4) When 2 vehicles enter an intersection from different highways at approximately the same time, the driver on the left shall yield the right of way to the vehicle on the right. However, the driver of a vehicle on a freeway has the right of way over a vehicle about to enter the freeway, and a vehicle entering the freeway shall yield to traffic on the freeway. Here are some similar laws from various states regarding merging responsibilities: 1. California: California Vehicle Code Section 21804. (a) The driver of any vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from any public or private property, or from an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic on the highway. 2. Texas: Texas Transportation Code Section 545.061. Drivers entering a roadway from an entrance ramp must yield the right-of-way to traffic on the roadway before merging. 3. Florida: Florida Statutes Section 316.121. The driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from any place other than another roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the highway to be entered or crossed. 4. New York: New York Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1143. The driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a roadway from any place other than another roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the roadway to be entered or crossed. 5. Illinois: Illinois Vehicle Code 625 ILCS 5/11-905. The driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from a private road or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the highway. 6. Ohio: Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.44. (A) The operator of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from any place other than another roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic approaching on the highway to be entered or crossed. Regardless of the state, merging traffic must yield to the vehicles already on the highway. The merging driver is responsible for using their signals and finding a gap to enter safely, and failure to do so typically results in them being at fault in any resulting accident.

@@shermjuHuge explanation for nonsense. It is an entrance-exit lane, very short and hard if not impossible to get up to speed, they are common all over the Midwest. Common sense to move over because we all know they can't get up to speed on time to merge safely so you give them a lane.

@@seacradev5400blinkers are also common. Think of them as kind of an indicator. That tells traffic your next move or desired move. Trucks in the wrong here. For all traffic knows. Without the blinker, they could think the truck is getting right back on the highway

God forbid anyone has to go through this.... Even if you broke a law, you still have fundamental constitutional rights. The cops didn't state what his crime was, yet he still handed over his information. They then profiled him as a black man who has a nice car must be involved with crime so they violate his first, fourth, and fifth amendment rights. This should have been nothing more than a ticket, unless upon running his license, which they did not do, turns up further probably cause to warrant further CRIMINAL investigation. He should have a winnable lawsuit and these cops should be reprimanded and/or fired.

Two truths can co-exist simultaneously. 1) They were right to pull Hill over for speeding. He should've complied with the officers instructions. 2) The officers escalated the situation. Most officers are able to maintain their composure and remain calm.

For anyone confused. When you get pulled over, you comply with lawful orders, these orders include but aren't limited to: correct information (name, address, ID/insurance/registration), stepping out of vehicle, rolling window down to talk to them. When you REFUSE lawful orders, you can be detained until charges (if any) are sorted out.
