My 2 Cents I’d strip the shell, fill all holes with dowels, get a nice piece of oak about 3 inches wide over 4 inches long, get a hand plainer and shave thin strips, glue the inside and out side of the shell, I’d go 10 lug, no holes on the shell get batter head and the reso cut a huge hole it’s just to hold the hoop go claw to claw nut and bolt together, then I’d go Phil Collin’s 10 12 13 14 16 and 18 setup low, right above them roto Tom the same sizes, 10, 12 13 14 16 18 An acustic 18 floor Tom

thanks , i did this just for a hobby. edge shape is rounded. today i have this drum in a minimalistic set at small room we play. set is with kumu snare and zildjian noiseless cymbals. dw hardware. i’ve added a (evans) soft damper ring on the bass drum head. set works very well.

I plan to do a similar conversion with a 16" kick, 10" high tom, 13" floor tom and 12" snare, hope it turns out half as good looking as this. How does it sound? Any playing clips?

Question here: Did you use primer first? And what kind of paint did you use? If someone knows about this information please let me know. Thank you.
@houlama5 жыл бұрын
hello oscar, i used normal 1k spray paints and 2k clear coat. "primer" was only white paint

Wish I had the time, space, tools and know how for remaking my drum kit. It needs a makeover really bad.

You could make great side money selling your own acoustic cut shells. UFODRUMS and you should talk business. They make the inserts for acoustic shells, cones, piezos brackets. I built a few Edrum kits and no one sells pre cut shells. Just saying something to think about.

dude post a video showing how it sounds

maybe some day.. But i can tell you it sounds good and the little muffler pillow is good way to control the hollow sound. (..hoodie and t-shirt is also as good way to stomp the rumble #go topless as a real rocker! :)))
