The gearbox sounds like North And Western’s PMC Leopards from 1981 but the engine sounds less typical 680 raucousness. Is it an L11 a non turbo TL11? It sounds more like a Hino 13 litre has been put in.

The Leyland Leopard PMC Progress was from the Red Top Transport bus depot at Wangee Road Lakemba.

Sounds incredible! Is there any difference between the Leyland Leopard and the Tiger?

Tiger is pretty much an evolution of the Leopard

Preferred 8595 when it was in Kiama Coaches yellow livery. But gotta fit into the Premier group eventually. Sounds like a new power steering pump is in order with that uncharacteristic whining under load.

Ride quality? I went on 7034 a few weeks back and it rattled like mad. It was just a few loose screws though so hopefully they have been (or will be) fixed.

These ones do most of the 164 routes and sometimes a feel of the local shuttle loop services in Cessnock.

This is the fancier model of the one I drove for well over a decade, mine was an early 80's model with an International 6 cylinder and Allison automatic. Loud, slow, smoky but the most reliable bus we had. When it was semi-retired it was still often called out to rescue broken down new buses that were bought back then, it was made fun of but in hindsight it should have been appreciated more for it's rugged simplicity and reliability. It's good to see people keeping some of them alive. The other one we had was a mid 80's with a manual 5 speed straight-piped V8, that thing sounded awesome taking off at wide open throttle, an older bloke drove that for over a decade too before retiring and passing it onto a younger driver. Don't see any them anymore I think the old LPG systems killed them off.
