I bought a snowblower for my x530 which is a Gods send in Iowa this year. I start out winter with my blade then changing to blower to get snow over the top. Wet snow has not been an issue for my JD👍

Great Job. I always wonder in these vids why people snowblow over sections they already did. I take your approach with my walk behind. Though I would probably have done the whole length in a pass, and the end cap first or last depending on whether we need to get out faster. I just picked up a 2019 X570 with 44 Snowblower and I installed eLift and made rear blinking LEDs.. Can't wait for snow!
Thanks for the video. I needed to know how the hydrolics worked on my X540.

You know what I decided to do as soon as I acquired my wheel hoe? I said forget all of this string nonsense, it overcomplicates a very simple exercise. I took a cut down 2x4 (1.5"x1.5") and a repurposed wheel from a kids bike, and made a an arm that is easily attached to the handles of my wheel hoe. The wheel rides along parallel to the path I create as I'm working the ground, and creates the perfect line for me to follow on the next pass... Voila! That's it! Tons of time/ frustration saved, and my garden layout has never been better! ... YOU'RE WELCOME 😎👍🥬🥕🍅

You are REALLY annoying. Why don't you go ALL the way down the driveway and the clean coming back up ? The way you are doing it is using more fuel and shortening the life span of the gears on the machine. I just don't get it.

My X530 is now 5 years old and I have 2 acres, ... I have been thinking of getting a x7xx I live in Dayton, OH ... we can get heavy snow from times and I like the idea of PTO drive on the X7xx but watching your video makes me think of keeping the X530. Anyone have any recommendations that live in the area... my dealers are not really helping me make a informed decision. I want either a blade or blower, doesn't matter, as I have a concrete drive but I don't want to invest until I know I have the machine for the job. Plus the dealer wants to only give me $1,500 for my x530 so I am bumming

these hydraulic tillers are absolute rubbish! They can only till ground that has already been tilled/broken up, by a far more capable machine! And look how the tiller gets jolted around up down left right when exposed to any minor resistance in the already broken soil. Worthless! And these tractors have so much HP, too, where the heck does it all go? Definitely not into the tiller..

John Craftenworth By the way,Deere tests these tillers out in SOD,as in UNTILLED soil and they work just fine.My neighbor has one of these hydraulic driven tillers on the back of his X-540 Deere,we have YELLOW CLAY in this area in the rust belt and I watched him till up a 200'ft.by 200'ft.area with ease using the 42"inch hydro tiller.

It's a toy, a grass cutter. The best tiller and I've got two, a Honda F510 and a BCS 710 tear tine tiller, is the BCS, 8.4HP straight to the tines, it will dig concrete up never mind virgin ground, no bouncing around, never misses a beat, BCS are the best on test 👍

Have been looking for a video like this, to see in action how these tools work. Moving toward a market/micro farm and looking to start out with all hand tools. A couple questions: Who many plating rows did you make? How many hours did it take? Thanks!
@devingoulding32008 жыл бұрын
Also, what rake do you use to make your planting rows flat?
@danmcnaul8 жыл бұрын
Hi, Devin. The rake was a standard garden rake. I buy my garden tools at garage sales and off of craigslist. I still have and use my wheel hoe. This video is several years old at a community garden, but I think the numbers were --> I had 3 plots each 15 x 30 feet. I believe I put 7 rows in each section (30 ft long rows). This gave me, roughly, 12 inch wide of planting hill and 14 inches space to the next 12 inch wide planting hill. 14 inches is needed for my wheel hoe to run down through there. Running the wheel hoe takes very little time (the time to walk 30 feet). What takes time is laying out the rows, pulling string, and planning what seeds will be planted next to what and why. Measuring / Laying out the rows probably took an hour or so. Good luck on your market/micro farm.

Too bad on the static electricity issue. I have the Earthway also. I also have an old wheel hoe that my wife uses for decoration. Well after this video I might have to borrow it from her. My handles are iron and the steel wheels are smaller in diameter. Back to the Earthway I was thinking of doing a remake on the seed mechanism by making a different one with wood. I wonder if anybody has a conversion seed mechanism for them. That is first downfall. The second is the kick stand should be twice as wide which could be cured by bolting a wider bar on the bottom of that kick stand. Other than those two issues it's not a bad planter. I argued with Earthway about it's design and they replied "No plans to change their design" I guess Earthway and Jang have collaborated on Jang's design but depending on which seed size planter they are four to six times the price.

How does this setup work in deeper 12-18" snows? And if snows get really deep (24"-30"), how does it handle it?
@danmcnaul8 жыл бұрын
+tkrotchko -- Works great. We had a 26" snow this winter and she performed perfectly. The snow was so deep that the snow was coming over the top of the blower. At the bottom of the drive where the city plow leaves a huge drift, I conquer that by backing up and coming forward taking bites until the snow is gone.

I have a X540 with 47 inch blower. sheared pins that came with unit. Bought new bolts and haven't had any shear problems. I bought tractor and blower together brand new. I have had to replace both tension pulleys that the blower belt rides on. Now I saturate the new pulleys with graphite lubricant when I store it for the summer...end of problem.
