I started my first i-cord with a lucet. I forgot how to use it so I grabbed two double point needles (dpn). This way means having to push the stitches to the first edge. YOUR way, is to simply transfer the stitches back to the left needle - and this way means using two regular needles. I like this way and will do my second i-cord this way. I want to use i-cords as the closures for a BSJ by Elizabeth Zimmerman, instead of buttons on one side to close a hole depending on whether for a boy or a girl. i-cord like a shoelace from left hole to right hole and then each pair of buttonholes has its own i-cord. Will add some sort of thingy at each end so the i-cord stays in the holes. Hmmmm.

Today is 19Nov2024 and I found this video tutorial just as I'm knitting my first i-cord - that I'm planning on using instead of buttons on my BSJ by Elizabeth Zimmermann. Thank you so very much! I was wondering how to begin and end the i-cords so it would not pull out of the buttonholes - on both sides!!! One i-cord per two already knit buttonholes. Great video!

I used a double strand of a DK weight yarn (similar weight to baby yarn), resulting in a more bulky feel. =^..^=

Good afternoon. That was an interesting tutorial. I am looking for some way to line a crocheted blanket around 3' x 5' that does not have straight edges, but circles joined together which makes lining much harder. Was thinking of using your double sided sticky tape and cutting some felt as near as I can to the shape of the blanket. Not sure how it would work, but do you have a better idea as do not want to mess up, done too much work on the blanket for that. Thank you
@sparklements5 ай бұрын
So, if I'm understanding correctly, your hem is curved rather than straight? My only thought would be to cut the tape into lots of small pieces and place alongside the curve. I'd recommend first testing on a swatch of both your crochet yarn and the fabric before doing that. One caveat would be that a blanket is probably going to be washed multiple times in its lifespan and I'm not certain how long the tape will hold up. =^..^=

You are right there wasn’t a video about this and this is just what I was looking for today. I like to use up single skeins alternating every row making charity baby blankets but the tangling is nerve-racking. This is the perfect solution and thank you.

This seems so easy. I am knitting a throw with only two colours but in 2 borders plus a central block with a two row striped pattern so I am using 6 different balls of yarn. It is driving me insane! I spend as much time de-tangling the threads as I do knitting. I will be trying this method and hopefully my sanity will be saved. Thank you.

Do You have a pattern for this bag somewhere
@sparklements Жыл бұрын
Afraid not, but the main "brick" pattern is fairly simple -- Row 1 & 3 (RS): [P5, K1] repeat to the end Row 2 (WS): [P1, K5] repeat to the end Row 4 (WS): Purl across all sts (rows 1-4 = one "brick layer" completed) Row 5 (RS): P2, K1, then [P5, K1] repeat... You can make the "bricks" bigger or smaller by adjusting the # of sts and rows, just remember the # of P sts needs to be an odd number so when you shift over the next "brick layer" the K st is directly above the center P st of the previous layer...

what would you say is the best lining fabrics that works best with the adhesive
@sparklements2 жыл бұрын
I'd go for really plain material -- minimal or no elasticity or sheen, and not too thick (the example I use that doesn't work is thick and stretchy).

Thx...there's not much to it, really, just cast on 12 sts with the burgundy yarn and purl one row, then knit 2 sts with the gold, 2 sts purple, 2 sts blue, 2 sts red, 2 sts amethyst, then just continue in stockinette st as shown starting at the :30 mark. =^..^=

Thank you just so much it was driving me crazy when all my yarn was tangling. I've seen other Knitters with like a bunch of little balls hanging off whille they work. Do you know how to do that? Or have a video on that?
@sparklements3 жыл бұрын
I'm not certain but it sounds like they're just small amounts of yarn being used rather than full skeins (I usually see that with baby projects)...sorry I can't be more helpful!

They're probably doing a technique called intarsia, which is often used for color blocking or to make motifs such as heart shapes.
