I think there is something still lacking of this game, it is the length of gameplay. If this game's story is an ensemble cast, the creator team of this game should add some stories and missions about the Soviet Air Force. Make use of the Il-2 Sturmovik and the Yak-9 please!

The photo recon variant of the P-38 had the camera in the nose so there no guns. The 4 50s and the 20mm cannon had to be removed. Plus, the P-38 was used by the army and not a carrier based aircraft.

I'm playing this in my PS2, but can't finish the level. After I steal the Jet, I'm stalked by a loads of jet planes and before I have a chance to take down the german jet, I'm shot down by a bunch of stalkers. And I'm playing on rookie level, Any hints?

I remember of that mission in particular. It's the first mission (and first plane in fact) you can switch between two secondary weapons, here torpedos and missiles, BUT the game actually tell you that way later in game. You could be aware of that if you paid attention to the "please, check and confirm that those button are correct" window, the first thing that appear when you launch the game for the first time. But little old me back then, 12-13 years old, didn't really pay attention + I got a joystick for this game. So do you see all the skirmishers attacking the Ariel here... Yup, I was trying to get all of them with Torpedoes before the Ariel sunk... I did it in the end and was finally proud of myself but a bit wary of the difficulty spike. A week later, I reach the mission when you learn you can switch weapons and also discover there was a keybind in my joystick already set for that. I remembered the missile rack on my Swordfish and did it again, "properly" and not "Overkill" this time. That mission became my favorite... In fact so much that I dared to did it in "Pilot" difficulty and got the Beaufighter as a reward. That push me to redo the game in "Pilot" to get those new shinies plane.

My all time favourite mission-the stormy environment, the endless fighters, the Battle with the Musashi-all epic🔥 "KEEP HITTING THAT BOAT UNTIL IT ROLLS OVER AND DIES!"

In reality the Yamato along with some of her escorts were sunk by the air power of the US Navy. She fought like a true samurai just like that end battle in The Last Samurai.

If Shoho had travelled with Shokaku and Zuikaku en route to Port Moresby, this mod mission is probably what would have happened. The Port Moresby Invasion Force, including Shoho, was attacked by a combined strike from Lexington and Yorktown on 7th May, which resulted in Shoho being sunk. Shokaku and Zuikaku (which made up the IJN's 5th Carrier Division) were not sighted and attacked until 8th May. Both carriers were attacked at the same time, and attacks were split between them. Shokaku was heavily damaged, though not sunk, and Zuikaku was unscathed. The need for extensive repairs on Shokaku and slow replacements of Zuikaku's air groups meant that neither carrier would participate in the Battle of Midway. If all three Japanese carriers had been found and attacked at the same time, and attacks split between them, Shoho might have been saved and damage to Shokaku might have been less severe. Operation MO, the plan to take Port Moresby and thereby neutralise the Allied presence on New Guinea, could have proceeded largely as planned if this happened. Less damage to the 5th Carrier Division and faster replacement of its lost aircraft could also have allowed it to participate in Operation MI, the Battle of Midway, bringing the number of Japanese carriers up from four to six (against three U.S. carriers plus Midway Island itself). Little things can have a tremendous impact, and alternate history is fun to theorise about. TL;DR Japan might have won the Battle of Midway, and perhaps the War in the Pacific, if its ships had been able to support each other at the Battle of the Coral Sea.

I also just noticed on my last playthrough that the German B-17s have their wingtips and tails painted dark green. I guess to make it easier for the player to spot.

This game is brutal on Ace difficulty

Being almost 22, I grew up with this game on PS2. I'm writing this because it was one of those random memories you get and this sparked it. God I feel old

The few complaints I have with this awesome game are: 1. Its a short game. I beat it the same day I got it delivered, and I dont consider myself one of those hardcore gamers. At most maybe an hour and a half of playtime. 2. A big chunk of the campaign is taken up by the Battle of Britain and the Blitz. The newsreels at the end of the last 79 Squadron mission teases you with North Africa missions and naval missions. At least include a D-day mission. With how beautiful the game looks, especially the planes, D-day would've been spectacular. 3. You have the Italian Machi. C. 200 and Soviet Yak fighters but no Eastern front and Italian campaign/enemies and allies?? Wasted opportunity. As much as I love this game, Im wondering if it rushed its development because of my complaints above.

Suggestion: 1, In Ace Difficulty, don't try to tailing enemies' single airplane for so long that other enemies will be easily trace and firing heavily to you. You can launch some energy attacks to the crews of planes, fly in a high speed and aim one or two plane, then strafing to blow them up. After firstly attack, you can fly to get away from the crowds to get some distance, then turn back with high speed to launch another attack to blow other plane up. By this way you will destroy enemies night fighters in time and enemies will hard to find a time to firing at you. 2, in anti ground mission, fly low and fast can help you evade most of flaks. and your bomb have a special use for attack flak tower. Destroy hangers firstly then the planes on the ground, then destroy the plane in air.
