Quite enjoyed this. We could use a Canadian star right now. In fact the sport could use a star, and one who nether gets injured or retires as a three year old. The sport is a lot more than just gambling.

Moonlight Press, 2001 Saludos desde Venezuela 🇻🇪 "Ferdinand won the Kentucky Derby in 1986. Alysheba won it in 1987. Since the value of a colt skyrockets when he wins the Derby, it is rare for two winners to meet, since the older horse is whisked off to stud. When Ferdinand and Alysheba met for the first time in the 1987 Breeder's Cup Classic at Hollywood Park, it marked only the seventh race between Kentucky Derby winners since 1950, and the first time it happens in the Breeder's Cup" "This race had significant ramifications, because if either won, he would be Horse of the Year. Ferdinand, after starting the year with six consecutive losses, had won three straight races -including the Hollywood Gold Cup- for his trainer Charlie Wittingham, who called his colt 'the best horse in America running today' " "Alysheba had gone on to win the Preakness and the Super Derby, and had trained brilliantly for the Classic for his trainer Jack Van Berg. 'If he beats this horses, I would sure think he'd be the Horse of the Year' " Jay Privman "Breeder's Cup" page 74 Moonlight Press, 2001. Greetings from Venezuela 🇻🇪

Ruffian was a great filly. My first love is still Foolish Pleasure. His memory lays in the waste of the death of that fine Filly. The only Breyer model horse I kept in it's box as a kid. She is still in that box to this day.

Watching him Win the Triple Crown was watching Perfection. He was the Greatest Racehorse of all time. I don’t know if any other horse could have beat him at the Belmont. I always felt sad for Sham because he would have won the the Triple Crown but came in second to Big Red. Any other year Sham would have been the horse to beat. Sham was the only horse that really gave him Trouble. He stayed with him but ran out of gas at the end.

The only thing that ever held Secretariat back was humans once they let him run the race he wanted it was all over no contest. A true champion is only racing against himself and history

Secretariat sired a Melbourne Cup winner in 1989 called Kingston Rule. Not many Americans would know this. And I know Kingston Rule ran the fastest time ever recorded in Melbourne Cup history. The Melbourne Cup is 3,200 metres. I would have loved to see Secretariat race but I'm in Australia and I was only 10 years old when he won all those races.

I'm reading all the comments about Secretariat and not one comment mentions that the horse had an oversized heart. And this is why he could run time in his races and it explains the stamina the horse had. I thought the American racing enthusiasts would have known about the horses huge heart.

I love how people see the glory and majesty of the LORD GOD in this creation of His, Secretariat, the perfect horse. I read the book years ago and as the end of days comes at lightening speed to pour out His wrath I can’t wait to ride behind The KING OF kings and LORD OF lords as HE RIDES in His second coming of HIS FINAL JUDGEMENT with HIS Bride THE REDEEMED fighting the last battle of Armageddon against the enemy of our souls and ISRAEL. Perhaps THE KING will be riding Secretariat. Come LORD JESUS!

Sham was a strong horse who was always pressuring Secretariat but at the Belmont Secretariat just wanted to run and Sham blew himself out trying to keep the pace. You can see Sham is striding and bobbing his head so much faster than Secretariat down the back stretch and the horse just can't keep up. To think Sham finished dead LAST trying to keep the pace Big Red was setting. It's just unbelievable. Like the old man in the clip says, it was like the Lord himself took the reins and told Secretariat "..go" and Big Red just went.

Seattle Slew absolutely bullied his way to the lead coming around the first turn.......Freaking Amazing! The horse had flare personality charisma ,attitude and flat out "cocky" everything you hated about an arrogant athlete. The Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and Ric flair of horses. Secretariat may be the "goat" but fell short of that Slew presence. As far as greatness Seattle slew was right there with him.

Whirlaway is my favorite Triple Crown winner, and 5 horses have won the Triple Crown in my lifetime, Seretariat, slew, Affirmed, Pharoah, and Justify. I just LOVE Whirlaway. IT was his long tail, his jockey, Eddie Arcaro (The GOAT), his quirky personality, andhis contribution to the WWII effort. LOve him.

Immortal Performance by the Immortal Easy Goer running a mile in a still standing record of 1:32:2, and galloped out 9f in a record 1:45 and change!! Easy Goer ran as fast and as fluid as any horse who ever lived! "Easy Goer was a supernatural natural, with his strongly defined, chiseled features, luminescent red coat, and with the force of his bearing and power in his performances. Easy Goer would win with uncommon authority, displaying unbridled power and extraordinary acceleration. Easy Goer was an explosive, powerful red bolt who flew past horses instantly with a huge, fluid, ground-swallowing stride, the ground a blur beneath his hooves, leaving horses behind in widening wakes while appearing to make only fleeting contact with the dirt. Easy Goer was a red blur who shot by horses like a Ferrari passing tricycles, defying gravity and physics with magnificent ease; an explosion of will and determination that he routinely unveiled with immense ability which brought him to the Hall of Fame, a shrine which is the ultimate honor for any and every Thoroughbred. Since the genesis of the breed, no Thoroughbred has fun a faster mile than Easy Goer as a three-year-old, while he came within only one-fifth of Dr. Fager's hallowed world-record; and only one horse, Secretariat, has run a faster mile-and-a-half Test-of-the-Champion Belmont Stakes than Easy Goer. Easy Goer also is the only horse in racing history to win the Belmont, Whitney, Travers, Woodward and Jockey Club Gold Cup and the only 3-year-old to win the Whitney, Woodward and Jockey Club Gold Cup while defeating older horses in the latter three. Easy Goer is one of only two horses to win the Champagne, Belmont, and Travers. He is also one of only two horses to notch a Travers, Whitney and Belmont Stakes triple, and the only one to do so in the same year. Additionally, he is one of only five horses to tally a Whitney-Travers double in the same year. Since 1919, Easy Goer is one of only ten horses to sweep the Belmont, Travers and Jockey Club Gold Cup. Since 1973, Easy Goer is one of only 8 horses that have won three consecutive Grade I races longer than 1 1/8 miles on dirt; with the other six being Triple Crown winners Affirmed, Seattle Slew, Secretariat, American Pharoah, Justify, as well as Alysheba and Gentlemen. Even Easy Goer's few defeats by the narrowest of margins did nothing to dispel the notion that Easy Goer was one of the best of all-time; the brilliance in his performances were worthy of only a highly special racehorse."
