I couldn't have been any more than 4 years old when my Dad played that tune for me on his stereo. He said, son, this is how drums are played.. AND that must have been my intro for becoming a drummer.

This record blew me away at age 10 when I first heard it. I was a young clarinet player and never heard a soprano sax before that time. Recently I met Charlie the trombonist with this group and he gifted me a copy of the original album. Wow - what a great memory re-living the experience of hearing it again. Thanks for this post!

I learned this song in elementary school during a period of witnessing a few kids from the same family being bullied this was back in the late seventies. One of the kids names was Greg and he loved to sing the song so much I felt so bad for him in my heart because he was being extremely bullied and beat up every day and I remember how much the song gave me joy we used to sing it in class to the music and he would just belt it out and I remembered that there was so much more to him and so much kindness to him then everybody around us I was literally in a room full of bullies and he was the angel. A few years ago I found him on Facebook and I sent him a friend request and he accepted I sent him a personal direct message telling him that I was so sorry what he went through in his elementary School years and that I felt so bad that he would get harmed by bullies and I sincerely meant that I don't think anybody else apologized to him but I did and I wanted him to know that I cared about him I was just too young to really know what to do exactly even the teachers didn't care.😢 But I remembered I mentioned the song to him and that every time I hear it it reminds me of him. Right now I am crying because there's so much hate in this world and I never understood why people treat each other so bad. Human beings could be the worst of the worst. Wherever he is right now I hope that he has joy in his life and that he never has to endure that type of brutal bullying

The “Stingray” designation began with the C2 Corvette in 1963. You showed an early model C1, either a 1956 or 1957, neither of which had “six tail lights”. Could you sub in a ‘63 or ‘64 C2 for accuracy? Thanks!

I've been singing this to my dog when I want him to get out of the way but have been singing it wrong. I thought it was "move along, little doggies"; heard it as a child. I'm still going to sing it that way because I don't want to confuse him. ☺
