I got rid of squeaks by using shims and screwing 2x4's up against the joist with subfloor adhesive on the top and back of the 2x4. The squeaks are gone, but now I have popping. I think I might have hammered the shims in too much, making the subfloor uneven. I would need so much of this epoxy that it would cost a fortune, but I don't know what else to do. I'm going to try some of the squak no more screws first. If that doesn't work, I guess this is my last option. I'm just wondering if I can even use this on my oak floor that's tongue and groove? It's not glued down.

@@DanijelAkrap I am assuming that the reason for the snap crackle pop is because the subfloor is not flat enough, so the hardwood is not in full contact with the subfloor. I thought that the procedure shown in the video would help to fill in the low spots of the subfloor and fully support the hardwood. But you don't agree with this thinking?
@DanijelAkrap2 жыл бұрын
@@lloydlind6898 no, its technically just adhesive thats why after is injected we always put weight to keep down. In your case, adhesive would go into the cracks of your subfloor. But you are right, you probably have low spots on short distance and thats why makes those noise. Flattening subfloor is most important step in floor installation. Hundreds of floor fails every year because of that

Why would this happen to the floor? My rental property has the same problem tenants is not telling me what happened to the floor is it soda or water damages?
@tonychambers92285 жыл бұрын
It can be caused by humidity in the hardwood sometimes its not enough moisture to cause cupping but instead causes this if there is not expansion joints at the walls wood floors are supposed to float to prevent this. You can fix this issue possible with a dehumidifier but it will take about 2 weeks to see a possible difference if that doesn't work you can do what was shown in the video or use special screws that break off the head so you can cover the hole with the wax concealer you could also use nails but use a punch to get it farther into the wood so you can conceal the hole with the wax or plastic product. It can also be caused due to the house settling .Good luck

quick question : i water damaged hardwood floor. can i put weight in center to make the wood stay down. will that fix the problem
@tonychambers92285 жыл бұрын
You can but it will proably damage the wood best to use a dehumidifer for about 2 week-4 weeks keeping the humidty in the 20%-30% range and it will go back to normal if it is dry season you can just let it dry out but that will take possibly as long as 3-4 months. The video posted is only for squeaking floors unless it got wet and dried and is now squeaking dont do what the video says for cupping in water damaged floors
@CromexInspections4 жыл бұрын
also it depends if is solid wood or engineered wood

@CromexInspections6 жыл бұрын
u should never glue laminate, your floor will be even worst. only way to fix this is to open laminate and or grind high spots or fill low spots with selfleveler. but never glue it because its floating floor and needs to move

awesome. Thanks for this info. I had bought everything from the drill to the glue because initially I thought it was vinyl (just bought a house and have zero experience in these things) But then I hired a contractor who chopped off one side of flooring next to the wall and then pushed the bubble out. It probably expanded because of heat, hope it doesn't contract and look ugly in winter. Thanks again!
