Invest, yes. But respecting local traditions is paramount. Muratina is a traditional brew for the Agikuyu, a brew with a spiritual connotation owing to it's organic ingredients, thus used in many of the Agikuyu traditional rites. Naming a beer after it, and claiming to patent it, is absolute madness and lawlessness that must not be tolerated. It's critically imperative that he consults on this matter and relinquishes the name nuratina on any of his brands. Muratina, busaa, kalobo or any other indigenous brew from any community must not be commercialised or patented to an individual.

I don't understand one thing about African countries; they welcome foreign investors to set up "small businesses" that local's themselves can do better. China only attracts big foreign investors interested in "manufacturing" , not the ones who want to open a brewery, restaurant, shop etc. Africa is extremely liberal with its market compared to the rest of the world & will end up excluding local's from economic empowerment.

Have you travelled? If Kenyans can set up restaurants in Brooklyn and real estate companies in New York and even in UK. What's wrong with foreigners doing the same in Africa. What's wrong with them creating job opportunities despite how small they are. This is a poverty mindset

Muratina is _awesome_ . I loved busaa too when I tried it in my first year of university. Experimenting with different types of cereal could potentially make it even better. Even cham isn't bad if made well. I don't drink alcohol these days though. I would consider starting with the high end market (like Tesla), then gradually go mass market. The high end market could offset not having economies of scale and streamlined distribution networks.

This guy has a lot of knowledge and excellent research, I never knew certain spirits can cause blindness. This video in itself is a wealth of knowledge and business plan. If I had my own country, I would invite these kind of investors and be a dictator to force change. South Africans don't migrate to other countries because their country is investor friendly and full of opportunities created by investors. I wish the rest of Africa would start seeing this.

Sadly true, with the exception of South Africa. That's why there are lots of jobs, industries and development over there. The rest of Africa is suffering due to gatekeeping and protectionism.

Good work. Opinion, at the start, it looked like a Nigerian movie. I feel founders have a lot to say about their journey in a startup and saving time for that would be more beneficial to viewers than sharing childhood and high school life. But that might also be your storytelling angle, so it's fine. 45:27 "Did you ever build a start-up?" Started the juice. NCBA Loop story 👌👌

I came from Startup Soko after Matt featured you. This was a good interview despite the challenges experienced, we learned from them. Loosing money is part of growing and it should not worry so much so long as the spirit is there, Shopika lost like 2 million in the year 2021 - 2022 which was painful but we had to move on. I've been working on it since 2017 during college days and still pushing on, hoping for the best in future.
