Todd you are going to hate my ravenloft dark power theory. The demi plane of ravenloft is born out of Ethereal plane. Every god has seperate aspects of an Avatar in each plane of existence. (It irrelevant at monent great gods have one Avatar per plane while demi God is a local to one plane). This new ravenloft plane is growing with each new domain added out the Ethereal plane. Well this dark realm as part of it's creation produced dark aspect of the very of gods of krynn Grayhawk, forgotten Realm and other Pantheon's; a unconscious dark Avatar's of their collective being. A darker version of: Herolonous, Hextor, Palidine,.....ect. A dark Odin, or a dark Loki are shade of these gods. The darker aspect of their personalities born fron the Ethereal. Form this dark aspect comes twisting on the God's ethics. Compelling to torture their followers wrong doing followers but but admiring them and blessing them with dark gifts because they are twisted versions of themselves. They don't want their followers to be freed from ravenloft or let them die, because they themselves would fade away. They want the realm to keep growing. Suck in more people, test them and when fall into the trap forever as part of the growing mist. The powers should never be defined. Stat-less, they are changing collection of Dark Ethereal gods, well, aspect of them anyway (even twist version of good gods) who not even aware of this dark version of this Dark Avatar to this plane of existence. A cast of player that varies all the time and place. Unware they doing it. That's my game opertional theory. Comment please. Love to here people's thought on my theory.

It's a terrible justification to be lazy, in a terrible book that feels almost entirely composed of poorly conceived random tables. One of the worst modern rpg products.

I don't understand the remove curse thing. Why not just make the curse a certain level? I.e it was up cast at like 9th level. And/or it requires specific materials for the ritual. Doing the spell once a month sounds tedious and not fun. Killing the head wolf sounds good though.

I have decided on a whim to run a CoS campaign for some friends and also picked up the Ravenloft book recently. I was going to run a rather "standard" CoS-Campaign, but just skimming through the book has given me so many ideas for meddling of other Domains in Barovia, player choices beyond the already existing ones, politics etc. I really love it.

Its been out for a while and around October i always find a way to stick my players in a dark domain for the month. Its so great that you can weave these realms into any campaign for some spooky fun. Van richtens guide has to be one of my favs. Plus undead warlock is my fav warlock

Made a harengon feywanderer / pact of the archfey and he is definitely up on the whimsical and trickster side of things. Best part, party needed to get somewhere and they decided to put the fae rabbit in their bag of holding with all their stuff. I have ADHD and there's already so much to manage when I play any caster. If I can simplify at least 1 thing by rolling ONE d4 & applying that damage to all darts, as opposed to rolling separately? I'm going to simplify that for myself.

A month in 6-7 sessions? What game do these people play? We've gone from level 1 to level 20 within a month of game time, but 4+ years of weekly sessions.

I would love to see the first 6 books brought to the screen with the level of love an put into lord of the rings. But i am frankly worried it will get woke political agenda treatment ruining everything that was good about it. It needs to be done as close to the books as u can get much like lord of the rings.

House Rule Werewolfs and other Lycans have regeneration. That's what I plan to do. No remove curse bullcrap either.

If you launch an acid vial with catapult, the catapult spell does 3d8 bludgeoning but does it also do 2d6 acid damage? Doesn't that make a 1st level spell unbalanced? Especially if you have a character like an Artificer that can make an infinite amount of acid. Maybe that's the extent, but some of these comments about launching bag full of vials or a bundle of them are going a bit too cheese and it would never fly in most games.

I played since the white box, and yes, we knew about this rule back then. But we still rolled 1d4 for each missile, BUT as a caviot, we only played small groups of 4-8 players normally and rarely had more than 1 mage. So, 1 player rolling a dice for each missile was never an issue. Plus, over the years, several decades, actually, it never proved unbalanced as getting all high or low rolls seemed rare.

I think it's funny how people don't think they have stated what the dark powers are. Even back in TSR the reality of what the Dark powers are was spelled oit, just very very infrequently, and with the caviot that the DM can choose to make the powers be what ever tje campaign needs them to be

Thief walks down the street and stops. He had noticed a familiar twinkle in the dim light down a dark alley. Curiosity and greed get the better of him as he follows the twinkle. Once he is close enough he realizes what got his attention was a small trail of gold coins. At the end of the trail is a small bag. With a grin, the thief picks up the coins, one by one, and places them in his pocket. What a day. Some poor soul left him a small donation to his bar tab. Once he reaches the bag he grabs it and lifts the flap to reveal the contents. But the grin is replaced with a confused scowl. There was no twinkling, just a black void do to the poor light. Squinting, the man looks closer. Maybe the coins are under something. That's when two hands grasp goth sides of his head. Fear didn't set in until his head was half way through the bags opening. When he screamed, his mouth was already covered by the bags cloth. Buy the time his arms tried to push the bag away, it was already half way over his torso. When the legs started to move, there was a sickening CRUNCH! A bag falls to the ground with the cloth making no noise. The fabric moves as if containing a small animal, and not long after it regurgitates a few coins, the movement stops. The Bagman waits.

This talk brings me so much nostalgia. In the times of AD&D 2nd Edition I used to DM Ravenloft and Dragonlance, these were my favorite scenarios by far. The feeling that came from hunting down and acquiring boxed sets and modules for one's collection was amazing, too. And I must say Dragonlance Chronicles was the one trilogy I remember vividly for so many emotions, it brought me to tears every now and then. I loved Sturm and Tanis, Kitiara and Dalamar, Lauralanthalasa and Tika Waylan (and her proficiency in frying pan wielding), Tasslehoff Burrfoot and Fizban. So much love for these characters and their stories.

How can I make a hexblood work in dragonlance? My DM seems to think that the feywild doesn't exist in the setting. He's also under the assumption that hags aren't creepy duplicitous witches, but just cursed ogres. Also, is it true warlocks don't exist in dragonlance either?..

Not sure why this resurfaced but sad DragonLance is dead via WotC. Would have loved to see the new show.

During a time when I'm having difficulty with maintaining relationships with my friends, seeing Joe's look of recognition and understanding whilst talking with Todd is just so heartwarming. I'm hoping to one day find friends who would like to play D&D with me. I was first interested in '99, and to this day, not a soul in proximity to my life is even willing to try. I thought that the internet helping to remove physical boundaries would help with any logistical challenges, but no one cares. I love seeing this so much. It makes me happy to witness and live vicariously through those willing to share.

This Tomb was awful, no new content, over priced non sense. Unfortunately, 5th edition has sunk another property from 40 years ago. Tomb of Annihilation was poorly executed, money grab. This trend from WOTC is ridiculous and trust me, they have their hooks in all of you buying this garbage. I’ve seen more videos and reviews pointing out this very issue with 5e across the board, how to fix this and run your campaign this way. This latest installment of a “ Ravenloft “, story was filled with colorful pictures and double spaced sentences to fill up more worthless space. This is what you’re buying.

What race would work with this build?

Would only work with a grain of salt and a very open DM, but I think it would be cool to have a plasmoid beast barbarian envelop another character like living armor.
