Try your wifes hair dryer. The heat is sufficient to loosen the joint . I did it on 1½" waste behind my bath, to allow access to pipes behind . Takes about 45 secs. 👍

Shouldnt that pipe be of a certain thickness? I am not a plumber...but they designed it to be that thick I am assuming, so you are just making it thinner...am I on the right track?
@Harrison22532 күн бұрын
wrong track, it only removes the pipe not the wall of the fitting
@allisonsplumbingheatingair8077Күн бұрын
The tools actually the exact inside diameter of the hub. Allowing it just to shave the pipe out.

Heat gun, just be careful. With a torch, just be careful and draft block. Put some clear primer on the inside if you can and light it up count to five blow it out and pull it apart, twist it out. Last resort, cut flush repeat and only heat scrap to be removed. Wet towels on standby. In a crawlspace replace the $50 in parts and get in and out. These tools are awesome though!

That did not look like a smoth surface inside. it looks like groves and very poor inside surfacing, that can affect the sealing of this connection
@allisonsplumbingheatingair80776 күн бұрын
It definitely was not a smooth surface, we have better ones. This is just one of the old ones we have laying around the shop.

If you get to it within like 20 minutes you can grab it with channel locks or a pipe wrench and twist it off

@@allisonsplumbingheatingair8077 really? you look young for that man. props. I've been at it for about 10 years now, doing resi new construction and renovations. Yeah it isn't coming off with your hands, with a 2' wrench it will. Maybe not with that blue monster I haven't used that enough. You have to focus the leverage right on the hub, you may have to hold back

Not a fan of tankless water heaters. Haven’t seen one that will get water to the tap above 100 degrees. Also a lot more maintenance and more hassle to fix when something goes wrong

Yes you can, once cured the liner is as hard as PVC. The only thing you need to be careful with is a chain machine.
