Suzuki didn't design it this way - it's a GM High Feature "LY7" V6 engine in this 2nd Gen XL-7. Blame it on GM. Wait until you see the labor hours and steps involved to R&R an oil pan gasket!

When trhu all that. But wait if you have to replace the radiator fan. To do that you have to remove the entire front body, I can send you pictures Also find the correct fan is a pain on the A, Suzuki use a 14 inches fan on the radiator and a 10 inches on the AC cooling. I love my XL7, but a pain on the butt to work on it.

How did you get that lower engine bracket so loose. I am working my way to remove the timing chain cover to do a chain replacement. I have done what you have but my lower bracket is still feels like it is bolted to something and will not budge

Late response, but how did that chain replacement go. Just got diagnosed with a bad timing chain on my 2008 Suzuki XL7 and wondering about the feasibility of a DIY replacement

Im having the same issue with my lower bolt by the cv axle. It’s a 18mm and I think when I pulled the other 3 they were 15mm came out easier the other 2 nuts that hold it down took awhile but eventually came off. Im on day 2 trying to get the same one out and won’t budge. Sprayed on blaster every time I give it a try.

You Rock! Johnta.....thank you for researching what's NOT out there (on '07 Suzuki xl7) and taking the time to chronicle proper steps necessary. I volunteered for my church to help a family in need with a 'simple' belt replacement, you saved my BACON sir with this job. O'Reilly's printed out a Belt Routing Diagram for me when I purchased the Gates belt - $40 and a single mother of 4 was ready for work the next day! Blessings from Texas

I didn't have to lift the engine to remove the alternator attached with the idle pulley... I just took it out, plus I have samoan size hands so I should've had a harder time but I was able to take it out with ease.

the hardest part of this was figuring out the path of the belt. Yes, as Johnta stated the belt goes through the motor mount, it goes through the forward side (right side if looking at it from the wheel well). I had an extra set of hands to help hold the lower part of the belt on the pulleys and to work with the tensioner as I slipped the belt over the idler. Took about 3 hours. Nice work on the video, Johnta!
