Fun fact Mark Chapman is the name of the fellow who shot John Lennon to death at the entrance of the Dakota building in New York city in 1980. (Mark David Chapman).... He was a loan assassin so we have to use his full name anytime we mention him. Dont know why thats a thing but it absolutely is a thing.... Look it up for yourself if you think I am wrong

Ray DAVIS was just a bloke in the pub that had an epic joke going that culminated with him signing a guitar. No relation to Ray Davies of the Kinks.

@@GHguitarauctions Not even. No offense but I don't think you know who he is. It's like getting Mick Jagger's or Paul McCartney's name wrong. From '64 on the Kinks rivaled the Beatles, Stones and the Who as the top rock band of the British invasion. Ray's songwriting was above everybody else's and he wrote some of the best iconic songs of the era that still are played regularly today.

@@nigelsmith721 Just commenting on the speculation that the guitar originally left the factory in a left handed case. Beyond unlikely in my opinion and you can see the case has had another guitar in it at some point, most likely a left handed one!

Ummm, the Gibson L4 has had a replacement tailpiecemade in wood (the originals had a celluloid one that often disintegrated), the bridge is a replacement and the pickguard seems to be missing one clamp so I would guess it has had a bit of history but it is still a wonderful bit of guitar legend. Can you possibly give the serial number?
