A year later, are there any other things you would say are cons? Does the top plate still stay put and not need more tightening?
@GrantBurks2 ай бұрын
I still use these on every shoot! I love them 🙂 the top plates still stay tight. If I do a shoot where I’m shooting in vertical mode with a heavy lens for an extended period of time sometimes it gets loose but I just tighten it back up if so.

In the specifications of the Rode VXLR Pro adapter, I read that the plug-in power supply is 4 Volts when the phantom power supply is 24 Volts and 48 Volts. It turns out that the Rode VXLR PRO adapter, connected to the Zoom F3 audio recorder, converts a phantom power supply of 12-48 Volts to a voltage of 4 Volts and transmits it to the Rode Lavalier Go lavalier microphone. Does this mean that in such cases it will not matter whether I set up a phantom power supply of 24 Volts or 48 Volts in the settings of the Zoom F3 audio recorder? After all, the adapter will still convert to 4 Volts, which is necessary for a lapel microphone? Most importantly, will the adapter prevent the Rode Lavalier Go Lavalier microphone from breaking (burning) due to high voltage? One point is unclear to me. They write that first you need to attach a lapel microphone to the Zoom F3 audio recorder, and then install 48 Volt phantom power in the Zoom F3 settings. Otherwise, the lavalier microphone will burn out. And doesn't the Rode VXLR Pro adapter convert 48 Volts to 4 Volts, despite the fact that before or after connecting the lapel microphone, I installed phantom power in the Zoom F3 audio recorder?
@GrantBurks5 ай бұрын
Hey! I’m sorry I’m unsure about this. I don’t have any experience using the zoom with a lapel microphone or the VXLR adapter. Anybody else here able to provide any insight?

I bought a Zoom F3 to my dismay. I should have purchased the Zoom H8. The menu system on this thing rivals Casio watches convoluted settings. The H8 has a beautiful screen and intuitive menu. I think Zoom is having people give this so so gizmo good reviews which it doesn't deserve, unless you really need its small size and that is your only criteria.

I haven’t used the H8 but I’ve really enjoyed my F3. Zoom didn’t ask me to give a review of the F3, would be nice if I was that big 😂 I haven’t had any issues with my F3 though and it’s been perfect for my needs!

Fantastic question! 😀 You’ve got a keen eye. For that shot I was using the a7IV shooting in Slog3 picture profile. The base ISO for Slog3 on the a7IV is 800. The camera doesn’t let you record below that ISO and unfortunately it doesn’t have internal ND’s so I had to use a screw on ND!

You might know how to light an interview but I hope you're not the one capturing sound for them, because the sound captured for this video is not very good. It sounds muffled and at some points you can even tell that you're clipping your levels.
@GrantBurks10 ай бұрын
Some projects I hire out DP’s and sound engineers for projects and some projects I do it all on my own! Depends on the client’s needs and budget. This video was focused on lighting. I threw a Tascam on with auto leveling and called it a day. Just wanted good enough audio for people to be able to hear what I was teaching and be able to learn!

Thanks for this man! So why do you choose 30fps over say 60fps where you could just utilize slow motion? I assumed you could drop 60 frames footage in a 24 timeline and it would look ok? I’m pretty new to all this so THANK YOU for the tips! I had gotten pretty stagnant with my drone shots lately lol
@GrantBurks10 ай бұрын
Great question Daniel!😀I prefer 30fps over 60fps because I find the drone does a good job of stabilizing the footage on it’s own and slowing it down just a hair from 30fps to 24fps on my timeline gives me the stabilization and speed that I like most! 60fps slowed to 24fps is a bit too slow for me based on the speed that I typically fly my drone at and when played back at 60fps on a 24fps timeline it gets ‘jerkier’ than 30fps because of the higher shutter needed. I hope that answers your question!🙂let me know if you have any more!

Great video! Just a suggestion: You should put the lens test charts side by side in the next video you do comparing other lenses. It would be nice to see both at the same time in addition to you flashing between the two. For example like on the left you'd put the Tamron 17-28mm and then on the right put a mirror image of the same side (as the Tamron) of the Sony 20mm. That way they are right up next to each other. Cheers!
